Lupe Fiasco=Future G.O.A.T.??

People do need to stop Crowning Lupe and just let his career grow. This rush to put him with the GOATS is way premature. He's a better emcee than KanYe but he's not a better overall artist and he's not a better emcee than Common so:

KanYe > Lupe

Common > Lupe

Chi-town has spoken.

I don't even have to live in chi-town to know if you polled the city, KanYe West and Common will both be above Lupe:

College Dropout/Late Registration > Both Lupe's albums

Be and Forever > Both Lupe albums

Any Questions?

Lupe can only "DayDream" about being on Biggie's level.

C'mon, you can't smart talk to me. I know all of P.I.G.'s material because He was my favorite rapper at one point of my life. You know nothin' of Lupe. You just listen to his first two and that was it.

How you gonna tell me what I listen to as if you have access to my music files? I've heard Lupe extensively, put several of people on to him young and old (many of my friends say he's boring) and at the end of the day in my view he's not seeing Biggie, He's seeing KanYe emcee wise but he doesn't make better albums and he's not better than Common. Like I said, he's not even the best out of his own region:

KanYe, Common and Eminem > Lupe

future GOAT how many people has lupe reached thru his music? like to me to be one of the GOAT u have to make music that appeals to ppl, have u heard his music in a club, outside of the internet is his buzz strong....NO, n to those who gonna say "music playin in clubs dont matter" it does, all the greatest hip hop artist could at least get their shit poppin on the radio, club, TV outside the internet, to me ur not a great artist if u cant do that.

Im a fan of dudes like Talib kweli, mos def etc. i feel like they ve made GREAT music but they havent made a clear MARK in hip hop. lupe is overated on here bottomline

It doesn't matter how many people Lupe has reached. Who cares about all that stuff. Anything influential is based strictly off of politics and media. It's about talent and technical skill. All that other stuff is subjective.

"have u heard his music in a club" - Who cares if his music plays in the club. The average person doesn't club that often. Maybe once a week if that. For regular people the majority of your day is spent relaxing, in an office environment/at work, or a classroom. Club music serves no purpose for most people.

When I'm playing video-games, I bump laid back music. When I'm doing homework, I bump laid back music. When I'm driving to and from work, I bump laid back music. When I'm at my office, I bump laid back music. When I play cards, I bump laid back music. The only time I bump club music is...NEVER. I let the DJ at the club do that for me.

....Btw LOL at Black Star not making their mark in Hip-Hop. I think you mean Hip-Pop. Mos Def and Talib Kweli are undeniable legends.

These cats or funny saying Lupe aint touching lives . Its hard to touch lives when you don't sound retarded and come up with a dance to your songs. These days. I would love to hear what op considers a dope rapper. I find it funny cats tear down Lu but will big up Ross for making the same song twice and make fun of Nas while congratulating Baby on robbing producers of their money and beats.

I know you didn't. I don't care if your homies find him boring. Cuz he's mad deep, that's why. They want to hear the simplistic rhymes from Piggy.

I see all the other Lupe threads up today, so i wont go in thier threads and ruin them out of respect.

I was driving listening to some of that ignorap today..and it hit me. I mean it may not be thought provoking, it may not be lyrical, but it is easy as hell to listen to. When things are easy, more people are going to do them and encourage others to do them. No one wants to make shit harder for themselves. So i got to thinking.

Lupe is definately a smart dude, i mean he seems very well educated. He has some nice songs when you sit there and give it a hard listen and interpret what he meant when he said certain things. Why go through the trouble of making his songs so complex and hard to understand though? Why cant he be as simple as juvenile but hit with the heavy message he tries to preach?

Dude is dope, but hes not going to reach as many people with long winded, hidden messages. Not only are some people just not smart enough to understand, some just dont care enough to listen to a 3 minute rap song and then spend 30 minutes trying to figure out what it meant.

Nas has deep, meaningful songs, shit that moves you. Shit that makes you want to research shit, shit that makes you look around and notice the lies. Lupe does the same, but nas does it without the huge words and confusing rhyme patterns that makes some people just turn away from lupes mustic, hes boxing himself in and he wont grow because of it.

He has great concepts and everything but the whole going over people's heads thing wont work in the long run. Just keep it lyrical without all that extra shit. Rappers have proven they can do both so why cant he?

Thats what im saying, i mean yea have your track here and there where you just spazz out on some "you cant fuck with my intellect" shit. But certain songs will be alot more felt if he just used more common words.

And nah 2010, what im saying is that lupe and nas to me are the same type of artist and will register the same fanbases. Why can nas get the same message across as lupe, but lupe makes it harder on his fanbase to listen to what hes trying to say.

You see, he's not stuck in a trance that our Great Jewish Brothers' command.

So he's going to do what sets him/his wordplay/his lyricism apart, from fake-gangsterism which Nas exudes.

Whatever you say
