Stop Crowning Wu over Lu people

They some old, bum ass, niggas.

Their music is all about drugs and violence. It gets redundant.

Method Man's flow was the one of the best over a decade ago.

U-God is a nobody.

RZA should stick to beats.

Ghostface doesn't even make sense at times.

Cappadonna....Who?

GZA was genius...over a decade ago.

ODB is dead.

Raekwon does songs with Justin Beiber.

Inspectah Deck couldn't handle a Joe Budden.

If I forgot anyone...they ain't important.

Oh. My. Gawd. lololololollolololol

Lupe is actually much better than all those people you named. tbh

It's damn near impossible to overrate Lupe. He's a top 5 candidate and future GOAT. When he releases like 2 more albums, it'll be set in stone. People say he lacks soul.personality, charisma, but in reality he is one of the deepest rappers out, and probably the most complex. He has tons of charisma and mic presence, so I have no idea what the haters are talking about. When Lupe is on a track, you know it's him, because of his voice, his charisma, his mic presence. Stop hating.

Deep songs = The Cool, Kick Push, the Coolest, American Terrorist, Real Recognize Real, Hurt Me Soul, etc.

Dude already has a classic album, which is more than I can say for like 99.999% of all rappers.

to each his own, but when u say the GOAT Greatest of all time, thats bullshit this guy only has 2 albums, he aint sell mad records, yea hes deep, but so r alot of other artist. dont get me wrong i bump lupe but for u to say GOAt, to me thats shittin on Nas, Jay-z, LL cool J, rakim, 2pac, gangstarr, etc. ppl who bought things to the game n stayed relevant for a while, luoe dont deserve that title...at least not now, hes good lets keep it at that

I said future GOAT, as in when he's retired or older, he will be a GOAT candidate, as in top 5 or 10. Not actually the greatest.

Kick Push, was a song about rebels, and had a deeper meaning than most people assume it has, it had a message and told multiple stories, it can be considered deep imo.

Lupe is a great rapper, but I think he's afraid of failure cuz he don't be putting out music like he should. As a Lupe fan I'm disappointed, he should have dropped an album last year, instead he just keeping his fans waiting.

"this one right here.. i dedicate this one right to all my homies out their grindin.. legally & illegally.. know what i'm talkin bout?"

Yeah, that's probably the strongest argument for it. I can see how the first verse fits, but not the second and the third.

The song is about a "passion" or "the hustle of life"...this can be applied to anything you do.

Verse 1
First got it when he was six
Didn't know any tricks
Matter fact
First time he got on it he slipped
Landed on his hip and bust his lip
For a week he had to talk with a lisp
Like this
Now we can end the story right here
But shorty didn't quit it was something in the air

(He started his hustle at a young age. First time, he fucked up (slipped off a skateboard, lost a pack, got fired, etc). The effects of him fucking up lasted momentarily but he refused to give up).

Yea
He said it was somethin' so appealing
He couldn't fight the feelin'
Somethin' about it
He knew he couldn't doubt it
Couldn't understand it
Brand it, since his first kickflip he land it

(His "hustle" made him who he was. Almost like he was destined to be what he is. He had a passion for it.)

Uh
Labeled a misfit, abandoned
Ca-kunk, ca-kunk, kunk
His neighbors couldn't stand it, so
He was banished to the park
Started in the morning wouldn't stop till after dark
Yea
When he said it's getting late in here
So "I'm sorry young man there's no skating here"

(Labeled a misfit or bandit, neighbors couldn't stand it = Muthafuckas hating on him....So he moved away from the hate and did his "hustle/skating" all night...and when people told him he couldn't do him, "sorry young man no skating in here" ...he went harder/persevered (Kick, push) )

[Verse 2]
Uh, uh ,uh
My man got a lil older became a better roller (yea)
No helmet, hellbent on killin' himself, was what his momma said
But he was feelin' himself
Got a lil more swagger in his style
(Became more experienced and Got comfortable with who he was. Despite what his family/others said)

Met his girlfriend, she was clappin' in the crowd
Love is what was happening to him now, uh
He said I would marry you but I'm engaged to these aerials and varials
And I don't think this board is strong enough to carry 2
She said bow I weigh 120 pounds, now
Lemme make one thing clear
I don't need to ride yours I got mine right here
(Met a shawty, said he couldn't commit because he was so heavy in the game. She made it clear she ain't need him...she independent.)

So she took him to a spot
He didn't know about
Somewhere in the apartment parking lot, she said
I don't normally take dates in here
Security came and said "I'm sorry there's no skating here"

(She showed him something new or gave him new experiences. The muthafuckas started hating againg (security))

[Chorus]
So they Kick, Push Kick, Push Kick, Push Kick, Push Coast
And the way they roll just lovers in the twine with no place to go
So they Kick, Push Kick, Push Kick, Push Kick, Push Coast
So come and skate with me, just a rebel looking for a place to be
So let's Kick, (uh uh) and Push, (yea yea) and Coast

[Verse 3]
Yea uh, yea, yea
Before he knew he had a crew
That weren't no punk
In they Spitfire shirts and SB Dunks
They would Push, till they couldn't skate no more
Office building, lobbies weren't safe no more

(He got a family/crew/team. They would hustle until they had nothing left.)

And it wasn't like they weren't getting chased no more
Just the freedom is better than breathing they said (they said)
And they escape route, they used to escape out
When things got crazy they needed to break out (they'd head)
To any place with stairs, any good grinds the world was theirs, uh
And they four wheels would take them there
Till the cops came and said "There's no skating here"

(Muthafuckas was still hating, still telling them what they could not do. But their love for the hustle overpowered it.)

The End Muh Fucka lol

Best explanation I've had so far. Almost convinced, because Lupe is one lyrically adept artist.

Lupe is a great rapper, his own problem is his record label. I don't really see what the issue is. He can rap, he's creative, he's poetic, his songs have substance, and he has two really good (if not classic) albums. What more do you want from a talented rapper??

future GOAT how many people has lupe reached thru his music? like to me to be one of the GOAT u have to make music that appeals to ppl, have u heard his music in a club, outside of the internet is his buzz strong....NO, n to those who gonna say "music playin in clubs dont matter" it does, all the greatest hip hop artist could at least get their shit poppin on the radio, club, TV outside the internet, to me ur not a great artist if u cant do that.

Im a fan of dudes like Talib kweli, mos def etc. i feel like they ve made GREAT music but they havent made a clear MARK in hip hop. lupe is overated on here bottomline

The literal meaning is that it's the story of a rapper that goes away on tour to make money, while leaving his girl behind.
