What did lupe answer with dumb it down? He just sat there and proved what i just said.

Dude is stubborn, and he is mistreating his fans and allienating new fans at the same time by refusing to make his music more accessible.

He doesn't have to, as long as that skateboard is getting carried around.

Then suburbia is going to buy his $hit, look at him as non-intimidating-though-dark skinned, and continue to have no regard for messages in his music.

Well... his record label won't allow him put the music with those "messages"

Who wins and who loses?...

I think a lot of these Lupe topics are reaching but honestly, i like what the posters are doing... if they are indeed sincere about his talent. 2000 - 2009 didn't have rappers of the same caliber as the previous decade. This has been established through general consensus on this board. I think lyrically/artistically he is the total package and arguably the best artist of the decade. His content is deep and unparalleled compared with the rest of his peers. This generation deserves a rapper of his caliber, he's one of the best they got.

Lupe >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Who loses?

Nas, obviously. Because Lupe doesn't go around frontin' minstrel and buffoon'd out, like Nas did re: the N.I.G.G.E.R. album.

A & R tell Lupe no intelligence allowed on the record, and he still sneak it in...or sit it out, like now...or else just quietly/don't say a word/do no grandstanding when going to get a crew of real spitters well known for this $hit. He didn't do what Nas did and went to no awards with N.I.G.G.E.R. Album propaganda on.....he just went to work @ gathering niggus/real spitters.

LOL...

Ok do you have any idea when the album is dropping?...

I dont know what you're talking about, and I read this post over and over and over, the only part I understood was Nas wearing Nigg3r propaganda on.

i kinda understand what you saying. it's like janelle monae. most people don't care about the hidden stories in her albums cuz that shit'll probably end up shuffled on they ipod with 3 of the songs deleted. the concept album doesn't really do much for the average listener.

This is exactly what im saying..when you have a small fanbase and you drop a grand message it will be heard by few and ignored by most

When you have a big fanbase and drop a grand message, everyone will hear it, because your big fanbase will spread the message much faster. There is also strength and influence in numbers.

I mean is lupe really trying to drop a message? or is he just talking about a whole lot of nothing with intellect sprinkled on top?

Common>>Lupe

I don't think he's trying to go over ppl's heads, it's just that he's clever and thinks outside the box whereas most folk would rather something be easy to understand instead of rising up and thinking about the possibilities

I see all the other Lupe threads up today, so i wont go in thier threads and ruin them out of respect.

I was driving listening to some of that ignorap today..and it hit me. I mean it may not be thought provoking, it may not be lyrical, but it is easy as hell to listen to. When things are easy, more people are going to do them and encourage others to do them. No one wants to make shit harder for themselves. So i got to thinking.

Lupe is definately a smart dude, i mean he seems very well educated. He has some nice songs when you sit there and give it a hard listen and interpret what he meant when he said certain things. Why go through the trouble of making his songs so complex and hard to understand though? Why cant he be as simple as juvenile but hit with the heavy message he tries to preach?

Dude is dope, but hes not going to reach as many people with long winded, hidden messages. Not only are some people just not smart enough to understand, some just dont care enough to listen to a 3 minute rap song and then spend 30 minutes trying to figure out what it meant.

Nas has deep, meaningful songs, shit that moves you. Shit that makes you want to research shit, shit that makes you look around and notice the lies. Lupe does the same, but nas does it without the huge words and confusing rhyme patterns that makes some people just turn away from lupes mustic, hes boxing himself in and he wont grow because of it.

Couldn't have said it any better....and even if u get it right away his delivery lessens its effect.... he doesn't rap to his listeners its like he's rapping to himself or for himself rather....

oooops, my bad...that's the Detroit/'Craft Ave. speak coming out of me. Here, let me go layman's terms for you;

was that plain and layman enough, for you?

I would be upset if Nas sat down on all that good music for an album title.
