I don't think I can say Lupe is a better song maker than Biggie. Biggie has countless tracks that are considered Classics that are mainstream and album cuts as well as fresstyles and underground shit he did. I mean look at their 1st albums singles:

"Juicy" > "Kick Push"

I think most would agree. For the particular poster to imply just cause Biggie is considered the Goat off 2 albums, Lupe should be in the converation completely forgets to take into account the impact and influence of those 2 albums. Biggie had the skills, the impact and influence to match, the trifecta every emcee could hope to achieve in their careers. Nobody isn't saying Lupe isn't sick, cause obviously he is but this rush to try to push him with the GOATS is very premmature. I have to see how he does over his next few albums before I even have the discussion. As of today though, no he is not seeing Biggie.

You mass appeal. Juicy is one of the worst song I've ever heard, seriously.

No im not... This is way more than just this Thread ppl been sayin that forever.... So what makes a classic album then?

Impact does count but it isn't the only thing that makes an album classic.

Dead presidents2, can't knock the hustle, devils, brooklyns finest>>>>>anything off food n liquor

There is no Debate:

Resonable Doubt > Food and Liquor

Vol 1 > The Cool

Illmatic > Food and Liquor

It Was Written > The Cool

Ready To Die > Food and Liquor

Life After Death > The Cool

I'm mean I can keep going you know? He's not Top 10, I'd say he's Top 30 for sure right now which is pretty great for a new artist. Some I know would argue Top 40-50 when taking everything into consideration and not just lyrics. He makes dope songs, some are even Classic in my view. He's very skillful. He does slightly lack chrisma on the mic but I guess that's just not his style. Again I'm looking forward to the next album if it ever drops but right now, Future GOAT??, Not likely.

Thats his stance on it... Maybe his life wasnt that interesting so he talks about shit thats bigger than him... Evry book aint written in 1st person... I rather him talk about shit thats bigger than him than for him to lie to make his life APPEAR harder than it was... Everybody didnt have a hardlife....

And truth betold we dont know too much about Jay-Z either and i think that helps his legacy...

You can always find a way to connect or make music relatable, it's not about life being interesting. I don't believe for one second anyone thought Nas or Pac is on the frontlines fighting with the Black Panthers , but they found some way to make the music personal and connect to the audience. Someone having a hard life has nothing to do with being personable, we all have views or have pain on some level.

People know about Jay, they know about his deadbeat dad, him shooting his brother, girls calling him ugly lol, him thinking he wasn't gonna make it in the rap game, growing up broke, etc. How do you think the Blueprint was made, that was his most personable album along with Dynasty Roc La Familia.

And Reasonable Doubt had no impact if we are being honest... Food & Liqour is only missing Impact honestly... The production was on point, lyrics, flow, content, fluidity and replay value that Album is Classic... And i personally like The Cool better...

F&L had way too many mediocre and filler tracks to be classic imo. The album was good but it fell short.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^WORD, that's why I love Dynasty. I don't think we'll ever see that side of Jay, again.

How in anyway shape or form is "The Cool" better than "Life After Death" and yes "Vol 1"?. It's definitely closer to "Vol 1" than "Life After Death" but I would still put both of those albums above "The Cool".

Sunshine, and I rest my case. LAD has Player Hater, Miss You, Another, & etc. 'Hip Hop Saved My Life'>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>'The Cool'.

Elmasduro

C'mon, man. Lupe was goin' off on 'The Cool'. Sorry. They're gold.

I agree, but i'd say "Vol 1" was more like 4 songs off Classic, the rest of it was serious but I see 4 songs people could throw darts at. "Life After Death" had at best 4 songs you could agrue were average but that's on a 24 song LP, you do the math. I can' t put "The Cool" which I give a solid 4 Mics over both those albums.

To me the best type of punchlines or simile mcs are the ones who don't force it, it seems like Lupe spends so much time focusing on the technical side of his music that he is forgetting about the soul of making music. I've listened to both Lupes albums and all his mixtapes and i can honestly say I DON'T KNOW SHIT ABOUT LUPE FIASCO. His music is essentially soulless, i know Pac (Dear mama, Me against the world, etc), I know Nas (Poppa was a player, One mic, etc), I know Biggie (Suicidal Thoughts, Miss you, etc), and Jay (Cant be life, Some how some say, Soon you will understand).

It took us 14 years just to find out what u stated about Jay-Z... he's not a personal person but i think that helps him because when he gives u snippets of his life it's like a treat.... Lupe still has some time... I think he can eventually be GOAT... He's the ONLY new artist with that potential which says alot about his skill level...

14 years? RD dropped in 1996 and Blueprint 1 dropped in 2001, Roc la Famalia dropped in 2000. Even before that he still had tracks like (Regrets, You must love me,etc). I don't think Lupe will ever be goat, personality and the essence of who you are, aren't things you can change. Some artist are technically proficient (Lupe,Gza,Beans,AZ,etc) and don't have the "IT" factor, and some artists are just stars period.
