Rap is the only genre of music where people actively say "You're too old to do this". No other genre does that. Imagine a young fan telling Chaka Kahn she too old to get up on stage and sing. Imagine somebody saying "Hey Stevie, time for you to put the mic down. Nobody wanna hear Signed, Sealed, Delivered anymore. People would lose their damn minds yet somehow it's ok in rap music for people to openly say they don't know, don't respect, or don't care about the older music. Not even saying they got to like it all, but at least know where the music you're making comes from.
