I'm not knocking Kendrick at all. I've been supporting dude from the beginning...

But I see where @judahxulu is coming from with his synopsis where Interscope is WWE'ing this "Control" scenario with Kendrick.

Of course they're trying to milk the control scenario who with sense wouldn't? He called everybody out to step they game up, named his main competition and that's it. Who actually expected dude to respond to all these cats lol. Seriously? People trying to interpret the verse literally like he really wants to end J. Cole career, nothing was passive aggressive about the verse, it was never as aggressive as people tried to make it, bold, but not all that aggressive. These dudes supposed to be hip hop heads, but can't understand the use of hyperbole in a track. C'mon son.
hip hop 101 : calling out names is ground for verbal assault

True..but at the same time we don't want Kendrick to hide the stones in his hands neither.

i understand niggas not liking kendrick songs but some of u niggas are just ridiculous, older hip hop listeners never wanna show young cats any respect

There's a clear age gap between the Kendrick supporters and dudes knocking him in this thread. I'd be willing to bet all the dudes knocking him are 30+. Talk about the youth not understanding history, while they rewrite history in they nostalgia and hold the current artists to different standards.

I'm 33, and I can say that (right now) Kendrick is one of my favourite MCs

Why should I hate on a talented dude like him?, only because i'm older? LMAO

It goes : Reggie, Jay-z, tupac and Biggie, Andre from outkast, jada, kurupt, nas, and then me.

Rappers been saying niggaz names in songs whether positively or negatively. Man when kendrick did it u niggaz lost y'all shit though lol.

Ima look out for that cypher. The original control verse was cool but the shits been ; misunderstood, overhyped, hated and loved way more than I thought it should be. U niggaz need to chill, if it ain't 2 much hate, then its love shown to the point of stannery.

They can assault all they want, but K.Dot isn't required to respond when that wasn't what he was on in the first place, and that's not an indication of passive aggressiveness. Only people who responded though weren't even named. And many people praised them when they trying to capitalize off of some shit that has nothing to do with them just like Interscope is gonna try to capitalize

I didn't say everybody 30+ has to hate Kendrick. I said the main ones knocking him in this thread are probably 30+.

You answered the question in your own post. I guess I just wan to see some good verbal sparring back and forth with any negative repercussions out of this whether he call their names or not.

What you talking about? He said what he meant by the verse, trying to get people to up the game, how is that hiding your hands? People got they expectations up over something they misinterpreted and try to act like dude is acting funny for not responding. And I agree I def want to see some back and forth and honestly kinda hoped he would respond to papoose in particular. That would of been a good match up and I believe that he would of backed up his talk.

I like Kendrick but that's comparing grape juice to wine - as far as the technical aspect of rhyming, cohesive bars, & content goes. I could see an argument that Kendrick makes better music but as far as their pen game, I gotta say AZ out of his league & I'm not an 'old head'.

As far as the topic, a lot of us probably realize it's 'a machine' behind all this. I think Kendrick & Interscope didn't want him to be boxed into the role of the 'conscious' rapper (which he never really was, though they somewhat packaged him that way) but the approach they're using could eventually work against him since a lot of 'fans' tend to be fickle after the 'moment' passes. At the end of the day, it'll be interesting to see where his career goes from here and what angle he'll come from though because he'll have even more pressure on his sophomore album than he already had after dropping GKMC.

older cats just dont agree with everything thats shoved down our throat by the media.

we like all music but we know when shit is corny an we stand by or actions an beleifs.

it seems like alot of you young cats dont like to stand out or think for yourself.

you need to flow with the crowd because you cant defend yourself against it.

but in kendrick's case most of us started to fuck with him BEFORE GKMC even before section 80

and?

we dont like him now.....does that make it bad?

alot of people liked 50 mixtapes . but some dont like his radio music.

and dont kill my vibe has to be the worst fukkin record i ever heard

older cats like myself really respect this dude. You hear that from a lot of older rappers too. Young cats seem to hate this dude because they misunderstand what's going on. They think he's dissing their favorite rapper.

think weolder guys...just dont understand hy you would say someones name an then back away from the comp....then throw another shot...only to back away again.

you lose respect for shit like that.

i dont think its an age gap i think its an integrity gap.....alot of young dudes feel the same way.

the only ones the are riding for this queer are those that refuse to think
