With the understanding that this Dude's only focus is Money?

That he compares himself to Ralph Lauren and D'Vinci and we are supposed to be impressed?

That he chose to be in an interracial relationship and we are supposed to feel sorry for him?

That in order for Kanye to feel as if a person opinion matters their bank account has to be bigger then his or cut him a check?

What's being missed here?

Like Charlamagne pointed out. The real revolutionaries moved people and changed the country without the backing of big corps and tons of money. WHY? because, their focus was the people. Not sitting at a table with Nike, Prada, Polo etc etc. begging for money.

It's more about CONTROL than money. I get the sense that you're focusing on the wrong aspects of what Kanye is saying/doing and not seeing the overall point he's making. I felt like he answered this in the interview. When I watch it again I may try to simplify what he was saying for those w/ your P.O.V. to consider for understanding. I thought it was pretty straightforward though.

It was straight forward. Which, made it very shallow and see through. Kanye spoke about his bottom line as a business man, an artist, a creator and man. All of which only improves his condition and the condition of his family. He doesn't have to mask his agenda in the form of helping or speaking for others.

Financial empowerment isn't everything. It's, merely a small portion of it. Furthermore, financial empowerment means nothing if all you are doing is spending on bullshit. So, Kanye is crying to NIKE so, he can take of his CHILD by charging OUR children $100's of dollars for a fucking shoe. Grow up, you sloppy niggas.

Charlamagne checked him on the right things. How are you screaming on the corps then acting like a bitch cause they wont give you what you want. Empowerment is doing things independently. Not talking about you are independent then running to your parents for help then holding your breath when they say no or put stipulations on their involvement.

LOL at our children, stop blaming corporations because you have no fucking discipline to control your children and household. Plus money is all relative, what may be expensive to you may not be expensive to the next man if you is financially empowered. If you're struggling to pay for some sneakers, it's probably from poor decisions you've made in your life to not being able to afford them.

Ya'll independent argument is just like the record label independent fucking nonsense. You can only get so far being independent. That's the fucking point Kanye is trying to make, it's about ownership and getting that infrastructure.

You are quite the character and if I were a betting man, I would bet you are the most financially challenged nigga that posts on this site. I am a very fortunate person but I am the exception not the rule. And in my circle of Engineers, Doctors, Lawyers and University Professors. Yes we all find $200+ sneakers expensive. Whether we can afford it or not is not the issue. The price tag is high. Your nonchalant attitude tells me you can't afford it and are here fronting.

I am not blaming corporations and it's very apparent I am not. I am blaming lame brains like you and others defending this type of thinking like this is what life is supposed to be like. Admire arrogance, admire what the public says is hot or the in thing. I challenge these things daily while striving for excellence without begging or having to say look at me, look at what I got. I would urge you do the same.

Don't bet your money then nigga because you know nothing about me. Graduated from UCF with my B.S. and UM with my J.D. in law. Stop making assumptions, oh yeah i owe my own house and numerous pieces of land in Florida.

So ignorance is dropping insight on how the music and clothing insight works. I respect everything Kanye stands for except for the temper tantrums because i know these racist mfs are trying to break him. One thing i know about America is they hate a nigga who believes in himself. I don't think Kanye has made it that far not knowing who he is.

Alot of folks are behind the 8ball and don't really understand how things work in this world..dude was saying pretty much what 2pac has been hinting around with the whole 'branding and owning' your own, Dude was on point and I got every word dude stated. This is bigger than rap and they seem to not understand that and kept sitting on him speaking on fashion, dude was just using that as his platform to speak on what he's going through and what every other person (black) with money in other areas are experiencing too, and they may not know...I wanted him to go in on that NBA, he touched and said something about David Stern, but he went into another direction got off track, but dude knows this game behind the game...and that's what folks most Americans are failing to understand

What it seems like you don't understand and what charlamagne and sway posed to Kanye was to remove them and do it yourself. It seems to me he could do it that way but he knows his paycheck will be smaller and that doesn't sit well with him. So, in the end it isn't about owning his own more so then it is him owning his own and saying he is on the same level with the large corp because, of the money generated.

For what Kanye has to say to mean anything it has to encompass more then just his bottom line. It has to speak to how this actually helps all.

again, doing it on your own, and how many billionaires we have???

So where/when down the line, you will have to reach out to somebody "connections" what he stated in the interview and folks with that type of money won't let you own what you started...black folks don't know any type of ppl like that, he touched on why it's difficult to start on your own...'connections', Yea he can invest and do what you and Sway and Charlamagne stated, but he's going to have to reach more audiences, and when you reach, you have to have "connections" to make that reach happen, which turns into bigger profits, which creates billionaires, thus why these companies have such major profits, Dude explained why he seek these corporations...he just want fairness

Kanye said Jay knows how to talk to people, and although Dame was speaking truth his asshole persona and all that yelling shit just turned people off. Yet, this nigga is yelling at the top of his lungs on Sway and was getting a little too hype during that Breakfast Club interview, nigga just won't learn.

Charlamagne is fucking stupid. I understood everything Kanye is saying, financial empowerment is everything. Charlamagne is the type of nigga who is happy with bread crumbs, Kanye is saying why can't we own the bakery as black people. That's black peoples problem as a whole in this country, we're consumers and not owners. We make up 10% of America and are the biggest consumers. smh

No one is knocking Mr Kardashian's ambition only his hubris and hypocrisy

Even if he is right (in which to be fair some of his points are) he is terrible at articulating himself and being cohesive , which makes him come of as a charlatan , and that's his problem especially for a dude who wants to be understood..

this is what I came in here to say

Kanye seemingly can't make his points without coming off as a whiner or sounding egotistical

there's not much of an issue with what he's saying but rather the way he says it

No one here is speaking above anyone's head. This isn't rocket science. The difference it seems to me is Puffy and Jayz are totally ok with being sub labels. Kanye is bitching and moaning about nothing. He sees himself as more then he actually is then, is running a BS campaign about us being slaves to labels but then is trying to sell us the same labels just with his own ideas and spin on the label? That's some devil two timing shit right there. You are slave if, you find value in sitting at the table with the very people that have their foot on your neck. The Textile, manufacturing and production isn't being done in America. The chinese totally have the industry on lock. So, if, Kanye really wants to get his shit rocking then he would go straight to the source. The chinese. Not sit on a radio show bitching about Nike, and Polo.

False, Puff and Jay knows how to work better in the corporate world and navigating it. They know networking better, i don't think it's a matter of being sub labels because last time i check both those dudes had ownership in a piece of their products. The music and fashion business is no different than regular everyday life, you have to work with people you can't stand. You have to do that when you have goals in sight, you've got to have foresight and some discipline.

LOL at the Chinese have the industry on lock. So you think Kanye can just go over to China like that or the Chinese are going to fuck up their connections with these major fashion warehouses.

I think you're over simplifying this shit way too much, speaking as a novice who has no insignt to the industry. There is a reason why there isn't many of us in these industries. I've heard people like Karl Kani speak about the same issues Kanye has, i'll take their word for it over you.

However, you want to label it, is fine with me. Sub Label, minority owner, share holder etc. Whatever Puff and Jayz are they aren't out here contradicting themselves.

No Kanye can honor whatever contracts he current has, or attempt to buy out those contracts then, travel to china and setup deals with the many manufacturing, production and distribution co. there. Just like any small or large company does. Will his cut be smaller of course it will. And this is where I believe his issue lay. He doesn't want to take a pay cut.

I could be over simplifying but you certainly aren't some expert who knows exactly why and how things are being played out as they are. There are many of us in these industries. Damn near very rapper has some sort of Clothing line. Kanye's beef is our involvement on the level of a Ralph Lauren.

LMAO niggas is actually justifyign the shit rofl. Listen, OVERALL of course he made a point but think about his ACTIONS and WHAT hes spilling his energy into..FASHION brands..when he says "WE" its POLITICAL TALK..Because whos gonna eat off that? HIM & HIS family..then the same people yall think hes arguing FOR is gonna complain to him the coming year.

The only VALID point he made was the fact of how much people feel certain brands validate them or the peer pressure of having it, whether its Jordans, LV or whatever. The rest is pure bullshit. The fact that niggas is ARGUING FOR HIM is WHY he keeps doing this. Ppl like him always have those type of people that no matter what will argue for them which is good for them to use as a way to manipulate them.

LOL @ revolution for Adidas vs Nike & how they dont give Kanye freedom & "devaluing" him being a revolution & "for the ppl" & something "we" as a ppl profits ANYTHING from..lmao. Cuz you know all the money he gets from his clothing is for "us" huh? "family"..lmao.

He uses family the same way a family molestor uses it whenever he does his dirty shit.

I'm 17 minutes into the interview and i understand everything Ye is saying. Charlamagne and his ilk too small minded to comprehend this shit.

I dont cosign kanyes antics but he aint lie yet.....*continues to watch*

Sure, you did. Now, try just for one second to use your multiple degrees to imagine that you aren't special or above anyone else. If, you think you are the only person posting here with college credentials, owns a home, has some Real estate, stocks and a 401k then you are what I already knew you were. A lame ass poser.

No ignorance is, thinking you know more then the next person. You are no more insightful then myself or anyone else giving their opinion or interpretation of Kanye's words or Kanye the person. Usually a persons approach and presentation is indicative of there personalities. Kanye doesn't present himself as, confident, and knowledgeable. He comes across as unintelligent, immature.

You hit it spot on and I have said the same over and over. But what you are describing is GREED!! You don't have to be a billionaire to feed your family, WELL! Kanye could do it on his own but he doesn't want a reduction in pay. He wants what he perceives is the easy way to make a billion. I'm sorry I can't get down with "chasing the Jones" and looking at what some one else has then, aspiring to attain that. Just not my style.

I'm not surprised @usmarin3 is trying to justify this bullshit *rolls eyes*. Take Ye's dick out of your mouth nigga.... CthaGod not against financial empowerment, he's saying you don't need money to have power - hence the MLK comment. The way they brought that shit up was irrelevant anyways, and so was the Adam & Eve remark. Kanye sayin that shit cuz he's venting his frustration as to why he's not succeeding in fashion otherwise why go at Bernard Arnault of LVMH ? Wtf does Jordan being a third round pick have to do with shit ? Ok there is only 7 black billionaires yeah and ? It's irrelevant, they asked him what he wanna be in 10 years and the nigga couldn't even properly answer for himself, half the questions he danced around, others he flew off on a tangent, and the whole interview didn't do shit but show how insecure and arrogant Kanye West is. Kanye is wrong about how he's going about satisfying his interests.

bruh....

What Kanye is saying reminds me of when Irv, J Princeand Suge were conspiring to get their distribution game up and next thing you know motherfuckers are fighting federal charges...

thats shit would have been dope but they saw niggas was comin together so made sure to stop that shit lol

Good interview to me. Apparently some people understood kanye(myself included), and everyone else heard ramblings of a crazy nigga who they used to like.

The funny thing is, i havent listened to a kanye album since graduation. I heard parts of 808's, but to me that shit was wack....some songs grew on me though.

His music aside, i fux with almost everything he was saying(nigga lost 90% of the listening audience with that adam & eve shit, lol)

Imma go listen to that sway interview..

This is inspiring.

Why be a poster or a mod on the IC. Why can't we own the IC. I AM CULTURE. I'm Moses, I'm Joe Louis, Inspector Gadget. Creatives. We mentally slaved to a post count and the new hot thread. All these post but we hit a ceiling. They tell us you can start your own threads, shit even a message board powered by someone else. What the hell is Vanilla? We chocolate baby! Why can't we be the power, the fuse and the electrolytes. We the new corpses being boxed in practically dead and powerless.

Nah but seriously I get everything Ye' is trying to say. I do think because he's so brash and some of his analogies are weird it throws people off. I think this is a classic case of not the message but the messenger for some. Not to say it isn't justifiable cause Ye has the high tendency to ramble. But I get where he was getting at.
