Yeah okay , but in what other genres...do you hear fans discredit artist accomplishments because of dumb reasons like that?
yes but in what other genre's do you find different races of artists
hip hop is the only genre with every race in it
there is no asian r n b singer
there is no black country star
there is no puerto rican heavy metal artist
but in hip hop each and every race has a WELL KNOWN producer, rapper, and dj. and thats just the music aspect. graffitti and hip hop dance also has these things
its not the hip hop fans. ITS THE ARTISTS and ive been saying this!! one of the only groups who would not except any ole body in the rap game was wu tang. all these other artists is going around high fiving all these artists who put out this bullshit, "showing love" to them etc no matter what detriment they bring to the forefront of the culture. back in the day you got clowned by everyone who was respectable if you tried to take the spotlight on some wack shit. you got ur ass beat if you werent nice or if you did something that hip hop didnt stand for
take this video we are watching
joe budden ... now joe budden got punched in the face by wu tang for some comments he made ... ok blah blah blah thats all fine and dandy..... joe budden is a good rapper, he can get punched in the face and we are cool with that because wu tang is also good/great and sometimes titans clash. but what about dude mickey facts??? dude just sat there and acted like he didnt see his man get stole on. now if you flipped the table, and ice cube ran or didnt do shit after easy e got punched in the face, ICE CUBE WOULD HAVE BEEN EXILED FROM HIP HOP. nobody even spoke about mickey facts when that shit went down not even joe budden did and that is proof of my point.
now its 2011, so i dont expect there to be people getting beat up cause they failed at trying to write a good rap. but what im saying is the essence and that tight knit almost fraternal order in hip hop is not there. when hammer came out he was straight ... then he went to far image wise. everybody from the hit squad (epmd) to 3rd bass etc went at him for that. and it wasnt like some mass email was sent out to do so or people were making calls. everybody did it because it violated hip hop as a culture. hip hop is lead by THE ARTIST .... not the fan. if 50 cent and rick ross are battling, dressing up like pimps with curly hair, approaching and using each others baby moms to dig dirt up on each other etc, then it is the responsiblity of other credible artists to say "man yall niggas kill that shit ... shit aint even about nothing and yall are making fools out of yourselves and its not good for this business and culture that is feeding all of us!!"
but since artists dont do that, of course young impressionable kids arent going to, and this doesnt even mention the fans who arent from a "hip hop" background who also happen to be the biggest consumers of the art.
