The two marketing strategies are completely different, but yes. Jay has clearly stated that they need to write new rules. I for one like the approach. Just reading the lyrics may get you hyped, or underwhelmed, but its not the full picture. So the mystery is still there, the desire for the album is still there. Whereas simply leaking a track would rob the audience of that excitement.

And you're right, they dont really do that anywhere. But its moves like this that has allowed Jay to stay relevant and at the top of the game for so long (along with his ability obviously). actually, I have a degree in English with an emphasis on literature/creative writing.

I apologize that you were not able to dig deeper with your analysis and only see the lyric as face-level (which he had intended. please refer to the video on magna carta released on Samsung app).

if we always looked for what the artist/writer intended the lyric/prose to be, then music/poerty would never be exciting.

it is only exciting by the new, refreshing, innovative way that a person interpret the meaning.

unfortunately, you had failed to recognise the excitement because you were too busy trying to get LOLs and dick riding Jay Z to figure that out in the most simplistic form that I had laid out for everyone.

A English degree is about the most useless degree you can get in college, it's like getting a degree in Philosophy or Psychology. Oh yeah, please don't brag about no Literature degree either, my best friend has one of those and i know it's useless.

When has Jay-z ever rapped lyrics at face value, the dude style of writing has always been double entendres and world play based.
