Can't say I agree. Jay Electronica roasted this shit.
"The devil, the haters, the bloggers, the papers, the labels, they labeled me
But they can't relate to our struggle, my nigga, we came up from slavery
Apologies go out to all of my fans cause they waited so patiently
This one is for all of the lost and forgotten black angels that prayed for me
A milli, a milli, niggas love me cause I'm ill
The greatest story ever told, niggas in the field
From Solomon to Sambo to Django, it's fact
I'm the Farrakhan of rap and I get it from the wheel
The son of W.D., who hung around in the D
Who ran around in the three
The trap gods raised me
Face all on the Sphinx
Story all in the wall of the pyramids
Niggas know the Black God saved me
You can blow the nose off, that won't change it
Obamacare won't heal all that anguish
We came a long way from the bottom of the boat
All praise to the Mahdi, we found our language
Gold necklace, middle finger erected
God tribe of Shabazz stylin' on the record
Lost sons of Muhammad, wildin' in the wreckage
Asha du illah illaha is the message
All these niggas, I got to fight one
All these devils, I got to strike some
All these rebels just waitin' on the war cry
Mama said "Son, you got to strike drum"
Roc Nation, celebration
Motivation, elevation
Nigga we made it from slaves on a slaveship
Live from the cotton fields, straight to the spaceship"
This is a first-rate Jay Elect verse in my book.
I'm not gone air here and try to tell you that JE kicked a wack verse ...the nigga is a quality rapper I expect him to kick quality shit ... But nothing about that verse makes me want to "rewind" and say OHHHHH shit it just aint gass up worthy like that ....their last collab was gass worthy but not this bruh.. ya nigga @thirdeyefive quoted a bar about "from the cotton field to the spaceship" or some shit like that ...like that was some mind boggling shit or like it was some overly poignant statement ...like te nigga hasnt apit bars just like that before ...it's like nigga please JE be having the wizard of oz affect on dudes ...niggas probably think this nigga can fuckig levitate ...lol
Shit it's a good track but lol at this gass .... I'm just surprised that's all
u projecting and speculating... the line was hot in the context of the flow he using on the track... nowhere did i say my mind was blown...
this is a dope joint... I didn't say it was the fucking Mona Lisa of hip hop songs...

Drake gonna respond in some clever way. There's gonna be a whole bunch of threads about I and they gonna be laughing while we debate their fake beef.

Although I would have like a little more thump that's just a personal preference ...shit dont stop me from being able to enjoy other styles of this rap shit unlike most of YOU cornball ass backpack type niggas I can appreciate different artist for different qualities specific to the individual ...

If you don't think that's a straight murdered verse, I don't know what else to tell you. The way he subverted the original take on the song about making it from being poor to making money and banging bitches to make it about the history of black progress, "from the slaveship to the spaceship," and that this history, this struggle, is "The greatest story ever told, niggas in the field/From Solomon to Sambo to Django, it's fact," then to say "nigga we made it," that's to give the shit some real meaning my brother. I can't name anyone in rap right now that can compete at Jay E's level when he spits verses like that. The whole damn thing is quotable to me, which is why I quoted the whole verse. I think it's excellent and I'm glad he dropped this. You said it was "aiiight" and "nothin' special." I don't agree. I thought it was dope and a stand-out verse from Jay, which like I said, is saying something. We're just going to have to agree to disagree on this.

tompetrez3;6891067 said:GZA verse on keep watch>that 5 pretender shit that got y'all gassed Jay E spitting. Wu tang been spitting that shit since 93 I told y'all Jay e a fake ass killah priest/wd fard mash up. Dude just saying a bunch of big words he ain't really going in. No matter when his album drops he will never drop an intellectual album like priest did with heavy mental/a view from Masada. Killah priest/GZA already did this psychokinesis rap style. If you simple minded ass Jigga warriors think what gay electronica doing is lyricism go listen and break down the entire dirty weapondry or love hell right albums. Late to the party fuck niggas wu been dropping that time bending deep hip hop. Jay electronica is a below average rapper from the 90s only shining now because lyricsm isn't important.
antarticp;6890969 said:i give jay-e super props ... cause he killed the flow and he threw nothing but new ish that no one else in the game is rapping about inbetween those bars .... he put words in those bars that has yet to be used in hip hop ... and he expressed it in ways that is rarely used in hip hop .... he championed black leaders ... he expressed greatness in his bloodline all while show great poetic skills ... and the main point is that he utilized those bars to SAY SOMETHING DIFFERENT ... when he could easy pickup where the majority of mainstream rappers left off with a party drugs bitches sex or anything else that reckless and JUST SOUNDS good to the mind ......

lol stop it B. Nigga is so open to shit, yet in any given thread we can count on a lame off comment from you about how IC niggas are internet niggas or backpackers for preferring a spec of lyricism in their shit, and calling a spade a spade. As if your some outstanding member of the IC community, so in tune with what's relevant in the streets, and everyone else is just clueless. No real street nigga in 2014 uses wack ass collective terms like that. Thats how I can tell your a fraud. The music is either dope or it's not. It just so happens that the shit that is usually garbo just so happens to not have any lyrical value at all. IE YG.
Your whole shit is not about being open. Its about being some different nigga, unlike any other nigga on the board because you fuck with the mainstream joints, and think you know what the hoes fuck with. I don't know were your from, but around my way, no thot nor nigga is playing a YG cut in the whip, let alone buying a CD.
