Oh hai there, I live in the South and I know for sure we don't consider Ross as a legend nor do we believe he has potential of being one.

Yes, the ignorant will of course cherish drake and wanye but those will not be our regional legends. If anything bun b will be our future legend.

Nigga...Bun B came out in 1992 (1987 if you got the EP) lol....

How old are you bruh?

I said the new generation...

I was bouta just talk shit and contibute absolute bullshit to the thread but i can kind of see what you saying if the nigga does continue to mold himself into something thats adequate in the game then i can see this nigga being bigger than Pac and shit.......ROZAY!!!

I feel if Ross drops 2 more quality albums....alot of feelings in this thread will change.

And for the nigga that mentioned Fab...Fab's preparing his 6th album...Ross' preparing his 5th. I know its hard to accept my nigga but, that's longevity in this game. Not alot of niggas get past #2.

1. I agree...he could get more personal. A "Song Cry" or "Suicidal Thoughts" kind of record.

2. It's 2011...who else is selling? Ross averages 625,000 albums per debut. That's not bad considering only 3-4 rappers a year go platinum nowadays.

3. In 2011...Ross >>>>> Luda, T.I., Jeezy. Just from looking around my environment, the Tri-state area (NYC, Philly, Jersey) hasn't rode for a southern artist this hard since maybe Wayne.

His biggest selling album sold 700,000 copies. His last album barely crack 500,000, the one before that still ain't gonna gold, and so on. Who else is selling in 2011, the actual legends (Jay,Nas, Em,etc) and some so so niggas (Wayne, Jeezy, TI).

LOL don't confuse Ross production for skills, you know damn well Ross repititive ass flow, delivery, and song making ain't nowhere in Luda and TI lane. Atleast Luda doesn't continuously get outshine on collabos like Ross does. LOL at tri state area riding Ross, then why isn't all that hype translating into something tangible (sales).

At best Ross can maybe have a career like a Redman, but even that is a fucking stretch. He can be a B level rated mc when it's all said and done!

Lol at comparing Redman to Ross. But anyway Ross will most definitely be a legend once its all said and done. He's already certified in my book. Ross first four albums>>>Luda, Fab, 50, and TI's first four albums.

By "our", I mean our generation, 2000 & up. It's inevitable. People will dismiss him for a myriad of reasons but, I guarantee when it's all said & done, people gonna look back at the 2000s & call Rick Ross a legend. I'm not talking about the 1990s & the Golden Era, I'm talking about artists who came out after 2000. It's only a few from our generation who have "legend potential".....Kanye West, Lil Wayne, J. Cole, Drake. Rick Ross will be one too.

DON'T ENTER THIS THREAD UNLESS YOU'RE WILLING TO LOOK AT THINGS OBJECTIVELY & WITHOUT BIAS...JUST CONSIDER THESE POINTS BEFORE YOU POST.

1. His music has progressed with each album. He's a completely different rapper on Deeper than Rap than he was on Port of Miami.

2. He's released 4 albums & shows no symptoms of slowing down (Most rappers last 2-3 albums)

3. Every album of his has went Gold, in a time period of rampant downloading & slow sales

4. He appreciates the craft of Lyricism. Staying true to New York City core values while bringing that Miami/South Beach flavor.

5. He withstood beefs from two of the most credible rappers in Hip Hop. (Jeezy & 50)

6. He has legitimate smashes ("Hustlin", "Boss", "Mafia Music", "Mafia Music II", "Maybach Music Series", "BMF" & "Aston Martin Music")

7. DESPITE THE INTERNET HATE...he's cosigned by everyone. Rakim, Raekwon, Jay-Z, P. Diddy, Big Meech, Birdman.

8. He brings the music. He not Mixtape Weezy status but, he keeps niggas fed with music on the regular, whether it be mixtapes, appearances, street singles or albums.

9. His career is on an upward trend. Most rappers start out hot then fade out. Look to DMX & 50 Cent for example. Only a few start out slow & gain momentum. For example, Jay-Z.

Hate all you want but, he's been putting up the material.

nigga it ain't even hate

1. your probably right

2. no signs of becoming lyrically good either

3. T.I. went gold much faster without promo in jail.

4. Lol new york? how so?

5. jeezy and 50, i don't know how but your right.

6. BMF and Aston yea but i ain't hear them others in whips.

7. i can care less, if they( Jay, Rae, Rakim) did cosign him....smh

8. which is why he still here.

9. Maybe so.

But you outta your fuckin mind if you think he gon be a legend. He only got good beat selection behind him. He also one of the fakest niggas I ever heard.

1. Nas barely selling my nigga. Untitled did 550,000. Hip Hop is Dead did 700,000. T.I. last album was a let down, even with him in Jail, he's a platinum artist. No Mercy only sold 500,000. Lil Wayne had 2 records after Carter III to repeat that success, you'd think he'd sell whatever he put out with his star power. Nah. Rebirth sold 500,000. I am Not a Human Being sold 700,000.

Rick Ross Albums:

Port of Miami - 850,000

Trilla - 700,000

Deeper than Rap - 439,000

Teflon Don - 500,000

2.5 Million Record total....roughly 625,000 average. It aint bad considering the climate. The only artists this year who shipped Platinum Albums were Kanye West, Nicki Minaj, Drake & Eminem. We're just in a period where albums aren't selling like that.

2. Rick Ross stepped his lyrics up a shitload since he came out. And to be perfectly, blatantly honest........I'd rather hear Ross than T.I. or Luda. All of Luda's albums are frisbee status & his songs aren't as dope. T.I. ain't been as hot to me since Trap Muzik-Urban Legend-King.

Did you not hear "Devil in a New Dress?"....that should QUIET EVERY CONCERN OVER ROSS'S LYRICAL ABILITY.

To be a legend u gotta have an impact & leave ur mark somewhere. Ross hasnt done that yet. On top of that, labels got kanye-esque budgets behind him but he still cant break plat or 800k. We saw this with the likes of Fat Joe & Jadakiss and their star power fizzled out or they got dropped & went indie. Eventually, Ross' fame will slow down - it happens to everybody & he wont be able to sustain that 600-750k every album.

Now will Ross be remembered ? oh of course , the beefs w/ fif, introspective looks at the miami hiphop scene but will he still be around putting out music & selling like a superstar ? highly doubt it. Ross will be remembered but he wont be legendary. Hes yet to do something epic enuff to do that for him. Hes got good beats that overshadow his weak lyricism, n sells a fantasy to keep niggas captivated.

Rick Ross will be remembered in a similar way the warren g or fat joe was, a good fun talent at that moment in time but couldnt sustain longevity.

Ross>>>>Biggie

If we consider Too Short, Trick Daddy & UGK as legends....then I dont get how we scoff at Ross. You dont gotta be superstar status during your career........as long you kept it true, dropped solid material & brought attention to your region, that's usually enough to garner respect in Hip Hop.

Who exactly considers trick daddy and too short to be legends?
Also, Ross can't compete with UGK's influence.

My man you making some great arguments but these dudes are just gonna stick their heads in the sand and repeat the mantra that Ross is carried by production. I know he can spit, any body who has REALLY been listening to Ross since DTR KNOWS he can spit but these jokers here will just keep repeating that Ross ain't saying nothing even though he saying the same things that most of their favorite rappers are. Its weird. Its ppl on here who think Mafia Music 2 sucked lyrically......
