By "our", I mean our generation, 2000 & up. It's inevitable. People will dismiss him for a myriad of reasons but, I guarantee when it's all said & done, people gonna look back at the 2000s & call Rick Ross a legend. I'm not talking about the 1990s & the Golden Era, I'm talking about artists who came out after 2000. It's only a few from our generation who have "legend potential".....Kanye West, Lil Wayne, J. Cole, Drake. Rick Ross will be one too.
DON'T ENTER THIS THREAD UNLESS YOU'RE WILLING TO LOOK AT THINGS OBJECTIVELY & WITHOUT BIAS...JUST CONSIDER THESE POINTS BEFORE YOU POST.
1. His music has progressed with each album. He's a completely different rapper on Deeper than Rap than he was on Port of Miami.
2. He's released 4 albums & shows no symptoms of slowing down (Most rappers last 2-3 albums)
3. Every album of his has went Gold, in a time period of rampant downloading & slow sales
4. He appreciates the craft of Lyricism. Staying true to New York City core values while bringing that Miami/South Beach flavor.
5. He withstood beefs from two of the most credible rappers in Hip Hop. (Jeezy & 50)
6. He has legitimate smashes ("Hustlin", "Boss", "Mafia Music", "Mafia Music II", "Maybach Music Series", "BMF" & "Aston Martin Music")
7. DESPITE THE INTERNET HATE...he's cosigned by everyone. Rakim, Raekwon, Jay-Z, P. Diddy, Big Meech, Birdman.
8. He brings the music. He not Mixtape Weezy status but, he keeps niggas fed with music on the regular, whether it be mixtapes, appearances, street singles or albums.
9. His career is on an upward trend. Most rappers start out hot then fade out. Look to DMX & 50 Cent for example. Only a few start out slow & gain momentum. For example, Jay-Z.
Hate all you want but, he's been putting up the material.
