My point is that the department of labor, brookings institute, and the heritage foundation as well as several policy think tanks are projecting that there won't be jobs available to people without degrees. meaning, it doesn't matter who you know, because there won't be a job for you.

Yes, skilled labor is an alternative, but if today there are say 10K electricians, and ten years from now we only have 8K electrician jobs, there will be 2K without work.
