My last relationship was with a woman that had kids. I have the feeling a lot of men have come and gone and in their lives, so I tried to make it work, but at whatever point I couldn't deal with their mother.
I'm across the country from where I was, so I Skype with the kids, send photos, and keep it friendly with the mother. She's real vindictive and will cut the kids off from their own father if she's feeling so inclined--so every now and then I have to deal with some bullshit from her.
I had a situation prior to that where a friend of mines husband had died and she went off the deep-end. She'd ask me to come over and then she'd go out and get fucked up, so I was taking care of her son and when she got home, I'd sit with her until she cried herself to sleep. That shit was tough, but my money was coming from the street at the time, so I had the time to be there and to keep it honest I was able to rationalize the bullshit I was doing because of it. She got it together tho and everything is cool, but her son is still confused about what happened to his father.

Trial & error. I tried being with a woman with a 9 yr old daughter. I really tried. Learned that it wasnt for me. I just didnt have that "love gene" or whatever thats all inclusive. I think it's an evolutionary thing. Males were NOT taking care of offspring that werent their own. It wouldve been counterintuitive to making sure YOUR bloodline passes on. So you cant say a man is weak for not wanting to accept a womans child. Is it wrong? Possibly in today's modern lifestyle, but doesnt make anyone right or wrong. I respect the brothers that do it, but they dont make u more of a man than the ones that do.
Most single women aren't looking for a father to their children and don't need to be saved, don't let your ego and codependency fuck with you. They might want a man, but not to take care of them and their children. You just need to be honest with what you want from them and throwing game at then smutting out a woman with kids is some fowl shit.
Let me be clear I'm not saying that a man should automatically come in start being step daddy and I don't think there is anything wrong with a man choosing not to date a woman with kids, but I don't see how a man can be in love with a woman yet have absolutely no type of relationship with her child...
