The albums in bold don't really fit the premise of this thread. It Was Written, The Score and Beats Rhymes and Life did well and came out in 1996 but the remainder of those albums came out in the latter part of the decade. Puffy and Bad Boy ran the table in 1997, but prior to 1997 it seemed like there was a lot of hot music coming out of the East coast that was being overshadowed by what was happening on the West Coast.

Even if you look at It Was Written, Nas had to change his style up to go double platinum. Personally I wouldn't have minded if he gave us another Illmatic.

Also The Fugees first album didn't sell, albeit I've never heard it and from what I understand it wasn't that good.

Fuck it, if you wanna argue go ahead and argue

He named 23 albums and only 4 of them were from the mid 90s
People done mention Platinum Trick Daddy albums. Your Thread been got jacked.

Lmao he went gold twice in the 90's his platinum album was in 01. You acting like I said something outrageous, I see you had no rebuttal for the mystikal and juvenile going Plat statement

My rebuttal was also including other artist in the late 90's. I was going by the thread title and evens aid I view the artist you listed as 2000's artist just like 50 cent. Then all of a sudden when the stats shows that NY won the 90's it's "Nah partna, some of those albums are late".

People moving the goal post when convenient. Cutting off at the mid 90's will make other regions look even worst.

not to make it a nas fest, but Nas did a bit more for rap then just put some rhymes together as some are kinda saying. He kinda was instrumental in about 20 rappers entire flows who bit directly off him. He kept the intelligence in rap, the gangster intricate storytelling, helping to incorporate black pride and history in songs without being corny, being political and tying it into how things effect us going on outside the street level while also staying street and hood, longevity while remaining relevant, telling stories backwards, internationally known battle raps, the only immediate relevant rapper that was accepted as king (even in the south) when Pac and Biggie died (Jay-Z was not really known at that time no matter how great he thinks reasonable doubt was.) [/b]

Basically not respecting Nas as top echelon is like not recognizing Andre 3000 because sometimes he gets deep.
