Harsh Article On Wale By The Washington City Paper (Talks About Attitude + Music)

I don't disagree with the article, there were some valid points in there...

Wale doesn't even know what type of artist he is...Meaning, you never know what Wale your gonna get... Are you gonna get mixtape Wale? Emotional Wale (yuck)? Fashion Wale? Spoken Word Wale? MMG Wale? Arrogant Wale? Suburb Wale? DC Wale? simp Wale? U never know who's gonna show up on the track...

Wale will be a nice ghostwriter in a few years.

I'm saying that this old white man who isn't a part of the culture doesn't have an opinion that I'm obligated to respect or co-sign.

Rick Rubin is a Rock dude to me, he should stick with death-metal & satanic-rock or producing Beastie Boy tracks, that's his lane and that's what he does
best, his opinion on Kendrick Lamar means absolutely nothing to me.

Now Russell Simmons can speak his piece because he's still connected to the culture and I might feel obligated to respect it but some old white blogger talking about Wale mentioning HBCU's while he's on the outside looking in is laughable.

Dude aint gotta be Dr Hip Hop to give his opinion just like anybody else on here but its obvious he knows what he's talkin about cause most of the shit he's saying is true so it aint like he didn't do his homework. I'm pretty sure he doesn't care what anybody thinks either, he's just doing his job

shit that's what i want from a artists i don't want to be able to predict exactly what a rapper is gonna rap about or say. folks say jay has nothing to rap about or only raps about 3 different things so why not be able to touch on a rack of shit.

the nigga is over emotional and too arrogant for me.

It's really not...

but I noticed how you only focused on MMG Wale and didnt account for the other Wale's...

as I said before, Wale has a brilliant future ghostwriting.

I don't have a problem with diversity.....but how many emotional tracks can you make about a girl or girls?? I mean really?

the arrogance is off putting as well for someone who sold double wood, which will eventually be a his downfall.

If Wale could piece an album together like he does his mixtapes (the good ones) Wale would be a bonafied star!!

but he can't put out a mainstream album sounding like his mixtape or it's not gonna sale. and the execs won't let him do that. We all know this by now. same reason why j cole mainstream album doens't sound like his mixtapes. Same for Wiz and BOB. it's part of the game when you are mainstream artists. no different from anybody else

arrogance won't be his downfall b/c half the ppl hate and half the ppl love it. Half of the area is filled with over arrogant folks. That's why folks always hating on each other b/c everybody thinks they are the shit. a

he does have too many girls tracks but you can't say that it was expected. that's who he is. i feel the album is missing some songs about something. and could have had a beautiful bliss type track or something with that type of sound. that's why the shit isn't perfect or a classic just a good album.

Everybody is entitled to their own opinion and some opinions hold more value than others.

The Washington City Paper isn't a reputable publication in regards to HipHop and Andrew Noz isn't a reputable critic in regards to HipHop.

His analysis and assumptions are idiotic and asinine and he seems like a grafted, calcified, fossil who thinks that being complex and being diverse is somehow a negative thing.

However the HipHop community is showing Wale love and the fans are showing their support so HipHop wins.

Andrew Noz is a hiphop writer though... not some general music writer who writes about hiphop.

I don't see it as the author hating, because he actually backed up what he was talking about, did he not? I'm a neutral Wale fan, I don't like him nor hate him. I always felt he was always trying to please everybody but himself.

DC ain't never going to have shit. Wale is better off without them

Or maybe were better off with nothing....

For some reason, Wale has managed to rub people the wrong way here.

I know why I don't like him like that anymore, but I still support even if I buy the cd, listen to it once, burn the tracks I like and throw the cd away in the trash.

The major problem... he still hasn't learned to stick with one thing and be good at it... versatility is fine... but not with wale.

He's a good rapper, but content wise his shit don't flow together and gets lost in whatever point he's trying to get across

I have read his Fader articles, browsed Cocaine Blunts, read his Tweets, and listened to his audio interviews.

Andrew Noz is not Chuck Creekmure, Elliot Wilson, Cheo Coker or even MC Serch......he's Deathrowzorrow, Synthesis, Jonathand & KTULU.

He's a Drake stalker, a V-Nasty supporter, a Big Trel groupie and the Howard Stern of Rap bloggers.

..however, I'm very pleased with his article because I always want to be on the opposite side of people like Andrew Noz just on principle :)
