The perp is accountable for his/her own actions. However, in order for the perp to be arrested, tried, and (hopefully) convicted, the victim has a responsibility to first file charges against the perp. If the victim is not willing to do that she/he might as well keep their mouth shut about it and keep it moving. Nothing happens without a victim coming forward. If they don't come forward they are responsible for the perp walking away free.

A British court has convicted 25-year-old Jemma Beale for perjury and perverting the course of justice related to false rape and sexual assault claims against 15 men.



Southwark Crown Court put an end on Thursday to a string of fabricated sexual assault charges that wrongly sent one man to prison for seven years and prompted another to flee the country. Ms. Beale will be sentenced on Aug. 24 for her crimes, which took place between 2010 and 2013.

“I can only think that she was motivated partly by financial reward, but mainly the attention and control over her partners and family at the time she made the allegations,” the case’s lead investigator, Kevin Lynott, told BBC.

Mr. Lynott excoriated the “serial liar,” who passed off self-inflicted wounds in 2012 as the work of four men who attacked her with barbed wire.

“False allegations of sexual assault and rape are rare but, when made, they are serious as they undermine the credibility of genuine victims and the efforts of the CPS and police to see perpetrators brought to justice,” London Crown Prosecution Service Lawyer Samuel Main said in a statement, Fox News reported.

Mr. Main said authorities revisited the cases in 2013 as CCTV footage and other evidence invalidated her claims.

All I've been saying is that just because it's a small percentage, it doesn't mean it's not a serious problem.

You all on the other hand don't seem to understand how that "small percentage" can affect how legitimate rape cases are perceived.

And again, the range is 2-10%.

It would be easier for me to accept if it was 1-3% or 3-5% because that's not a wide range and doesn't leave much room for error.

But to think that it can be as high as 10% makes me believe it might even be higher than that.

Just going by the google search I did and how so many men have a story about them or someone they know being falsely accused..........it leads me to believe that the actual number might be closer to 15 or 20%.

Granted, you all do acknowledge that false rape accusations are a problem........but, at the same time, you give off the impression that you think it's not as bad as it seems.
