Complex: Why Does Everybody Hate Jay Z?

I've never seen a dog bark at a parked car. Jay will continue to get hate as long as he continue to make the moves he's making. IMO of course.

Nobody hates Jay Z, he just makes it a point (or at least the media does) to make every little move some grand gesture which often comes across as underwhelming, short sighted, pretentious. ÿ?

Nigga always wanna act like he putting the world some new shit when its usually the same ol same

My only gripe against Jay Z is he is extremely rich, but also extremely out of touch (ex: the star gathering for the Tidal introduction, how is it all about the artist when every body on stage [besides him] is on a major label?)

Complex is one of the worst publications out

I know everybody got an opinion but gotdamn, we gonna discredit a whole publication because we don't like what they write on or how they write about it? regardless to any facts they may present? I think what complex is doing is cool, they're not falling behind on the times by writing about what the source in 95 was writing about. They got young writers with their pulse on the majority of popular urban culture. They even touch a good amount of underground cats.

Anybody knockin them is just dumb. They're actually making a valiant contribution in documenting this seemingly everchanging tide in black music.

You lose all creditability giving a publication like Complex any validation or merit.

No one hates Jay. People are just disappointed in his work - his main domain - because outside of "American Gangster", everything he made post-retirement has been average at best.

People respect the business side of him, cause he's done some pretty extraordinary things (the Nets, Tidal, Roc Nation Sports, etc….) but the artist side make you question why is he even still making music?

There you have it close thread.

I don't hate Jay Z

This.

That man held me as a infant and bestowed his rapping skills upon me.

Teams up with yeezus to make heaven for your ears.

He inspires all broke niggas, hov did that so hopefully u wont have to go through that.

I rest my case.

Collectively, African Americans have this insane view of success. We all strive for it. We all claim to want to see someone from the hood that looks like us, acts like us, has our same story make it to the top. Yet, once someone makes it and doesn't have a fall from grace, they're sell outs, white washed, not holding our values as their own, etc. Even with his music, people will say he fell of or he's wack now, but will bump Young Thug, Kevin Gates, etc. and be impressed lmao. Dude is at a point where he's too successful to be an underdog, and that's usually the position people of color root for.

Complex favorite rapper is Jay z. They always been on Jay dick they claim he is the best rapper ever & that reasonable doubt is the best album ever. Fuck them

How can Jay be hated when he is second best selling rapper ever? niggas love him because he is fake fuck jay z and most of the people who went and buy his albums is white people because they can relate to that fake ass

same people who buy eminem albums is the same people who buy jay albums bitch rape face

You gotta be at least the 7th dumbest nigga on this board,

Says the fucking the idiot who holds Complex Magazine in high regards in Hip Hop Journalism and Black Music and inferring its coverage is better than The Source during its Golden Era/Bible Years

Sit your dumb ass down.

Jay Z is just making it hard for himself crying foul with this Tidal shit. This complex article is a rouse for that. Nobody hates him he is just a old man not understanding how technology and money works. When you spend 20 years of your career rapping about drugs and money like a pigeon holed coon real business can hit you at a blur. He sound like a bitch when he say they are on a "smear campaign". Of course they are on a smear campaign. did kanye tell him 11 years ago he still a nigger in a coupe or a nigger in paris. either way he is a nigger to corporate america. I find it hypocritical he cant handle that dog eat dog fake republican shit he has been rapping and brainwashing his fans with for his whole career. This is the same man who derailed DMX comeback in 06, Stole LL Cool J rightful presidency, fucked and made fun of countless niggas baby mothers, broke up and sold the Roc and Got 106 and Park taken off the air. Amil? Beans? Jaz O? Dame? State Prop? Tru Life? All of those niggas were "fair" to Jay Z and he treated them how the industry is treating him now. Doug Morris? The Kochs? Trump? These white men are the same ones talking shit about TIdal and his reputation as drug dealer when he was calling them friends on his earlier albums. For a nigga to have 500 million dollars, hip hop regality and a beautiful wife he is SENSITIVE as fuck. If thats what "success" is let me stay poor with my old records and hittin fat bitches on Tagged. All that money and still not happy

Because he's a sellout

Dont get me wrong the man is a natural lyrical beast with a fluid dexterous flow but he's a corporate whore...A black boule jew..Not to mention his art is severely diluted now..its all about the money with this nigga..Hes a agent smith

I haven't seen jay build one school, hospital, community center etc..I haven't seen him do something significant with his wealth...He should go rebuild his old neighborhood..His investments are self serving offerings to fuel the matrix..

I seen Pac doing geniune significant and moral things with his influence and wealth..He truly cared about people.

you really think Jay-z cares about people..He wouldn't even buy candy from a kid off the street

Isn't not liking what a publication contains a good reason to discredit it?

Fuck giving money and food after tragedies happen...

How about building something that prevents the crime or heals the community and keeps it in good health...

So......you don't like Jay Z because he hasn't been philanthropic enough for your liking??? Lmao yall niggas kill me. I guess you want all rappers to be as proactive as Jay Electronica, right?? How many hospitals has he built i New Orleans?? What is he doing about the dismal graduation numbers out there? These are real questions. Then it would make sense as to why his album hasn't dropped yet. LMAO
