She still got all the stuff, do the 'normal' things people do on those days but when my oldest asked me straight up looking me dead in the eye if those things are actually real? I couldn't lie and I could tell she appreciated the honesty. If other people wanna keep up the charade with their kids, fine so be it it's your kids, but don't expect me to lie if they should so happen to ask me.

I agree with this 100%. I feel it's important for a child to enjoy their childhood and have imagination, dreams and be innocent up until a certain point.

What I don't agree or believe in is diminishing my importance and hard work in helping the child grow. 1) First off, I lived in a building....so him sliding down the chimney concept never made sense to me...and i dont believe he was bout to pick the lock on the balcony door.

2) And 2nd, me & my siblings would straight ask our parents what we wanted for Christmas...that etched Santa out the equation right there.

Yes I did tell her pokemon are not real, there is no "would you tell her pokemon is a lie" because no one is trying to pass it off as truth. It is understood that it is a creation of someone's imagination and that is awesome! because we can imagine anything! but imaginings do not necessarily mean they are real or true but everything we have today started out in someone's imagination! I think the difference between santa and pokemon is pokemon doesn't have to be real to enjoy it and partake of the imagination land part of it, whereas santa does. You can't be like "santa is bullshit but were going to pretend he still exists and put presents from him under the tree" Santa only survives as long as children believes the lie of him being real.

And as the child gets older and asks more questions cuz kids are smart af the lies have get deeper and deeper and imo insults the child's intelligence, and leaves(later on) an imprint their parent CAN lie to their face and they wouldn't even know it. I'm also a firm believer of not ever lying to children because who else can they trust to give them the utter brutal truth but an adult? Idk, maybe I've thought too deep into it, it's just my perspective of it all.

1st and foremost I would have an issue with my child believing in another form of systematic racism like Santa Claus. Honestly if you can't see how that shit is a form of brainwashing minority kids into believing in another white savior then I don't know what to tell you.

I also believe that it is a sad thing to use a form of bribing to teach a child to be a decent human being and treat people equally. You shouldn't get rewarded for doing what any decent human is supposed to do.

I would never stunt anybodies will to dream or use their imagination because daring to dream big has helped birth so many real life achievements and inventions but you can't compare something like Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny to actually thinking of flying or traveling to space and making it happen.

Not to mention you can enjoy fictional things without believing it to be real
