This more has to do with the limitations, boundaries and moral questions with which we as American citizens must consider when we choose to dislike and discriminate against individuals. Furthermore, I would like to see on what grounds an absolute defender of gay rights can build an argument to show why people should adopt an "everyone must like everyone" attitude.

You dont have to like them... but that doesn't mean you have to hate different people who do you know harm as well.
The problem is that there is alot of xenophobes and other prejudice people who harbor irrational hatred... collectively they can do harm.

Apathy implies a lack of emotion though - a refusal to accept or reject these individuals. While apathy is not wrong, it is not really much of a stance.
So long as someone is not doing harm in their disapproval/disgust of homosexuals then what is the problem?

Well.. heres the thing.. People are doing harm (light weight harm yes)...but they just like to think they aren't.
If a white person in human resources comes across Kimtanesha Jone's application for employment... and throws it in the trash immediately without even reading it just because they assume shes black......well....
Those people are called silent bigots ... (a racist bigot in this case.)
If you were truly apathetic you wouldn't give it a second thought.

But not all discrimination is justified in all instances. Discriminating based on someone's height is not justified when hiring for a position where height is irrelevant.

Bolded pretty much assures that I will waste no time doing so. That time/effort spent promoting hate & divisive idealogies is better spent on more rewarding endeavors.
