Honestly, you say he can still be qualified to do a job despite a neck or face tat. I see a clear flaw in judgement and decision making. You understand the negative stigma that comes with certain behavior or decisions and you make them anyway. You're not fit work for my company, especially a job where you'll be constantly seen and spoken too

I can see your point...But everyone doesn't decisions based on social norms and stigmas...Anomy exists, and it's not always bad...Sometimes ideals must evolve...

Yea sumthing like this no way

Eh, I wouldn't say they're 'taboo', but they still hold a stigma especially to the bosses i.e. the older generation.

I've seen them look really nice, really dumb, and really tacky..all depends on the selection of the art and the placement on the body.

I don't have any, but if I got one it would be in a spot that only certain people would see it.

Just keep it coverable and keep in mind that we're not forever young...that shit WILL end up looking crazy eventually.

One thing I've heard is that tattoos look ridiculous when you're old but I've had several elderly patients with tattoos up and down their arms and they were all cool as fuck.

No they are not.

They've become increasingly mainstream and that has diminished the artistry.

I've been getting tattoos since I was 15 years old, and I've slowly added to my collection of body art for the past 10 years.

I have both sleeves done and it's a work in progress. When I tell people how much time and money i've spent on my artwork they look at me like i'm crazy. I grew up on the school of thought that good artistry knows no price, especially when its going to be on you forever. I'll pay top dollar for quality artwork, no questions asked. The problem is that so many people are going to back alley scratchers (scratchers=shitty artists) and ruining their bodies because they don't have the mind to set an appointment and plan out a piece with a good artist. They want it right then and there and end up with bad, albeit inexpensive, tattoos.

Also I work in a field where my body art has to be covered all of the time. I'm an RN, so I either wear a long sleeved shirt under my scrubs or a scrub jacket all day. It doesn't bother me because just about every hospital I've ever worked in is freezing cold, so the extra layer is comfortable. I don't have any neck or face or boob tats, but I do have a very small one on the side of my hand that I cover with Dermablend. Usually I don't bother covering it because it's so small that most people don't notice when i'm wearing gloves, but I cover it for interviews and whatnot.

The judgment that comes with being a heavily tattooed woman doesn't bother me. The notion that tattooed women are not effeminate doesn't bother me in the least bit. I've been called worse, and not because of my tattoos. People seem to believe that a woman with tattoos isn't classy...well, class is not about being beautiful or done up. Class is about being a good person and treating others in a respectful way. It’s about doing the right thing, even when the right thing is hard to do. Class is a characteristic, not a beauty statement. Has nothing to do with my physical appearance.

This sleeve of text you wrote suggests that the 'stigmas' do affect you...

I have no tattoos but i respect those who get them out of artistry then trying to fit in. If i was to get a tattoo, i would rather spend top dollar for one, then to have some backalley shitting looking tattoo placed on my body.

To me if you going to put something as permanent as a tattoo on your body, make it mean something. I know a few people who swore up and down they would never get a tat and as soon as it became mainstream in hip hop, they are all over it now trying to impression the ladies.

I never got tats because my skin is so sensative, I didnt think they would heal right, I got scars on my body from 9 years old.. but if I did get one, it wouldnt be so the world can see..
