Shoulda dropped not so close to Cole TBH...shoulda got a Single and a Press Run going and then Dropped it.

TDE act like they don't know how to market any other artists that don't have the Interscope Cosign/Backing...

Lowkey TDE doesn't know what the fuck they're doing

Or maybe folks just not really checking for him. Unfortunately everybody ain't gonna be a hit.

TDE has failed in marketing all their non interscopr artists

Except for SZA

Should have dropped Black Hippy after GKMC and every member could have rode the wave like every click has done in hip hop since I can remember. But homie is dead nice but his subject matter just isnt appealing. He raps about stuff most people aren't interested in.

This really would have been the best Idea. Capitalize off of Kendricks success. Should have released a Black Hippy album/Compilation, artists could have made money off the tour, label could take money for the album sales to put towards future releases.

I put this in the same category as "Jay only became huge(n/h) bcuz Big and Pac died."

None of them niggas was guaranteed to do Kendrick numbers if a BH album came out.

It worked for G unit, Ruff Ryders, State Property, Hot Boys etc, drop a hot project follow it up with a click project that introduces everybody to the consumers and the rest of the artist from the click drop solo albums and reap the benifits from the initial albums success.

A lot of popular rappers use this method. Sometimes it works, sometimes not. But they at least try. So it's really confusing why TDE is taking so long with this, especially when the fans want to see it happen.

But it could be an ego thing too. I will purchase the album to hear all 4 together because I'm a fan of each one. But unfortunately, a lot of other people would treat it as another Kendrick album - Example: Thug Life. It was technically a group album, but when it came out, everyone in school called it "the new 2Pac album."

I also think the no mixtapes shit hurt them cause Kendrick and Q the only niggas on TDE that can take long breaks without putting out music

Yep. Niggas gotta wait 2 and 3 years for new material.

TDE marketing team is horrible. That whole label has no idea when to promote and drop music. Ab has a fanbase I'm sure he'll get his money on touring but his sales are horrible. Post Malone doesn't have a machine at all close to TDE and he sold 59k

Yeah, also Top Dawg needs to be a better EXECUTIVE PRODUCER and be a fucking Puffy and let his artists know "That Ain't it" or "it ain't ready yet." Stop letting his artists control when they drop and PROPERLY roll out an album.

Shoulda told Soul that the Sound and feel of the album doesn't fit the Concept. Soul needs a better outline and narrative for his porjects since he's arguably the most complex artist on the label. He paid attention to how Kendrick mixed his album but not how he Structured it and the cohesiveness of his albums.

Top hot the talent. They just gotta tie together them loose ends cause they don't have too many more chances before they gonna be in that Box forever

By the way Post Malone only sold 19,000 pure albums. Not 60k.

Singer/songwriter/rapper Post Malone sees his debut studio album, Stoney, bow at No. 6 with 58,000 units (19,000 in album sales). The album had a particularly robust number of streams for the week (51.7 million streams, equating to 34,000 SEA units)

Thats alot of streams

Labels could make anybody marketable if they tried the problem is most rappers aren't worth it to them so they do the bare minimum (a video the week before it drops and the NYC car wash).

I personally like the album...sort of, but I really can't see it being that appealing to today's rap fan.

It's very deep in many ways...this album going over heads.

If you care about what you actually listening to, might have to go away and read up some shit to see the depth of this album.

Today's rap fans want fast food...

Look at Cole, initially peeps thought it was wack until they realised it's a concept album.

Saying that...he ain't never come close to Control System.
