That's not marketable in this climate..This is not the early nineties where you can drop a rugged dark and sonically raw sounding project(a la 36 chambers) and aleast go gold...The energy is different now
The General population does not overstand the concepts in that mans music...It has a spooky cold vibe to it and the message can very much go over the average persons head..people(who are subconciously programmed by relegion) are already on the fence about supporting anything that looks like it's promoting satanism or what they think is satanism

It was an c+ album to me and was better than J.Cole's project. This shows how marketing and hype goes a long way. I thought he would do more numbers than that. His name was trending on Facebook all week. I think Soul will do better, when the smoke clears. You got to count all the people streaming and jacking music for free.
Ab-Soul is not really straight forward with his bars, so a lot of it goes over the average person's head. Most people only care about a dope beat or a catchy hook and that's enough. This is why mumble rappers are so popular now.
Although I appreciate the music and the independent hustle from TDE, they're slipping a little with marketing their projects. And I probably sound like a broken record by asking this - WHY IS IT TAKING A MILLION YEARS TO DROP THE BLACK HIPPY PROJECT ??? TDE has a lot of good artist, but Kendrick is the Jordan of the team and ScHoolboy Q is Scottie Pippen. I know they're trying to avoid having the album seem like "Kendrick Lamar featuring Black Hippy" and have other artists blow up on their own. But the others are not going to catch up with Kendrick's success. It is what it is. Why not use Kendrick's and Q's mainstream popularity to promote the others in the crew? The BH album can low-key be a TDE compilation album, like Dr.Dre's "Chronic" for example.
