Is this album as surprisingly good as the Wild? No Jay dickrider responses please. I already know how ya'll gonna feel no matter what the album was like. But if an objective listener says it's good, I might hunt it down and give it a try.

I never been a big J fan. He aint even crackin my top 20

But this album is good

About what I feel. I put it behind Ransom's Greatest Rapper Alive and Kendrick's Damn.

Dont really see why Damn gets so much love

Thought sonically and content wise TPAB was a better listen

With Damn it was really no true standout lines/verses. Some of the tracks are thematically all over the place. And the production was just ok

And too many tracks that were either forgettable or commercial driven...i.e. Love, Loyalty, Lust, God, Yah

The only song that thumped and had replay value for me was DNA....maybe Humble ....

The chorus to Elemnt is trash

I dunno with a lot of kendricks music the concepts, overarching themes are dope...but the execution isnt always smooth...

It's the IC where every Kdot album is a classic gotta get with the program round these parts

Generational wealth, thats is the Key.

My parents didn't have shit,

so that shift started with me.

Its funny considering that Jay along with Puffy started the whole spend money on material shit phase of Hip Hop. His whole career was spent telling people to waste money.

I tried really hard to argue with this.

If you're a Hip Hopper/rap fan you should definitely give it a spin.

Lol

I think 4:44 is being a tad bit overhyped

Gotta sit with it a bit more before i can really make a good determination

Family Feud, Bam, Marcy Me and Smile have been in rotation since it dropped

So I did enjoy the album and feel as though it was better than Damn

With kendrick

I understand he's the anti Drake... And his music is refreshing in this day in age

But the amount of love and reverence for kendrick on here is incomprehensible to me

I like a lot of what he stands and how he presents himself...but he's an average rapper/lyricist

He does shine as a story teller but he's not great at it imho

I don't think a 47 year old man in a young man's game who is a elder statesmen, a leader of culture, and a father/husband who's being honest with himself can make a better album than this.

It's a honest, reflective, introspective, look at a man's career and life that's played out in the public eye for 21+ years.

He gave every version of himself to date, then expanded on it by adding black excellence as an ingredient while getting more personal, and being more vulnerable than he's ever been, things that many hardcore fans have been asking for years.

I don't know what else ya'll want from this nigga.

If this is it, it was a hell of a run. Jay-Z will go down as the most successful, influential hip hop artist to ever live.

He's inspired more entrepreneurs than any other artist has inspired anything else.

It's not up for debate. Everybody calls themselves a hustler now because of one Shawn Carter.

He's touched every base as an artist and businessman that you could.

Yeah because they were the 1st rappers to brag about spending money on silly shit

Not the first but definitely the biggest and most influential.

Idk what this means

After this album, it feel Jay has pretty much said and addressed everything... Like it was his last big hurrah and produced arguably a classic album... Do people think he can make another album up to par with this??? Or leave rap on a high and have this be his last album???

I feel like DMX has an album like this in him with the madness he has been through...

Jay and Puff didnt start this spend money shit. It was y'all beloved Rakim who did with the gold ropes, Saabs, etc. Run DMC too.

Hov best intro is the prelude on Kingdom Come. I knew that album was about to be flames after I heard that shit. It wasn't flames but that album was better than people give it credit for

I got that album for Christmas a while back and listened once and never again. People have been telling me it really isn't that bad so maybe now that I'm older i might give it a second listen

A seat at the table - Solange

Lemonade - Beyonce

4:44 - Jay-z

What the fuck are they drinking in that Knowles/Carter household.
