I'm enjoying this album. But I've seen some people on social media defending the album against the "Where's the club bangers? I need some slappers! I don't get it." people.

I'm not surprised a lot of people were putting down TPAB (a classic masterpiece) and Untitled for the same reason.

And let's play devil advocate - Is this album filled with boring "Soul/Jazz Beats" too? (I have no problem with laid-back production with soul). Is Jay-Z getting a pass on this for being a legend in the game and being on a level Kendrick and Cole have not reached yet?

You're pushing a narrative nobody said. Alot of people didn't put down TPAB.

I'm not pushing anything, just talking about what I read on this board and other social media outlets. TPAB is a great classic album, but a bunch of people (not everyone) was shitting on it because of its style and not having a lot of radio/club friendly songs like Damn (another great album).

But overall, I'm glad a mainstream artist like Jay-Z released a project like this.

This!!! Niggas for real tryna act like that shit wasn't happening across the board.

Exactly. I'm just pointing out the hypocrisy with Hip-Hop fans when it comes to certain people or fan bases.

LMAO you Jay stans have gone to the next level of stannery, Jay is only better than Nas inside of your fantasy land.

Don't you think the earth is flat? Your opinion on anything is null and void

@Preach2Teach must've went to the same school where Jigga learned that the sun revolves around the earth

Is this album as surprisingly good as the Wild? No Jay dickrider responses please. I already know how ya'll gonna feel no matter what the album was like. But if an objective listener says it's good, I might hunt it down and give it a try.

If you're a Hip Hopper/rap fan you should definitely give it a spin.

Its funny considering that Jay along with Puffy started the whole spend money on material shit phase of Hip Hop. His whole career was spent telling people to waste money.

Yeah because they were the 1st rappers to brag about spending money on silly shit

This is what he does. I just pretend that he doesn't exist. (Like the Jay-Z Lincoln Park album.)

I love Jay's music, but I haven't expected all that much from for the past few years. I was taken aback by how powerful and complete this album is.

At the moment, it's album of the year for me.

About what I feel. I put it behind Ransom's Greatest Rapper Alive and Kendrick's Damn.

It's funny how you can't wrap your head around how this album is about growth. He also apologized for the way he treated women in the past, or did you politely overlook that so you could post some misguided barb?

You see it as a barb, I see it as evolution. You can't see where you're at if you can't remember where you came from. What's past is just that...in the past. My post wasn't a slight on Jay, but an acknowledgement of how funny things turn out decades later. The dude who was all about materialism is now preaching to people to handle their money right and to build wealth. He was a kid in his 20's out the gate, and now a man in his 40's with a family who sees how the world works. Just too bad he didn't make this turn sooner.

He probably shouldve did the same for the topic here but it's not that serious. Don't get bothered by the guy callin it out cause he has a point.

Yeah because they were the 1st rappers to brag about spending money on silly shit

Not the first but definitely the biggest and most influential.

Dont really see why Damn gets so much love

Thought sonically and content wise TPAB was a better listen

With Damn it was really no true standout lines/verses. Some of the tracks are thematically all over the place. And the production was just ok

And too many tracks that were either forgettable or commercial driven...i.e. Love, Loyalty, Lust, God, Yah

The only song that thumped and had replay value for me was DNA....maybe Humble ....

The chorus to Elemnt is trash

I dunno with a lot of kendricks music the concepts, overarching themes are dope...but the execution isnt always smooth...

Trying to follow in my shoes with jewels froze

Better adhere to this text fore you go

Broke, spending more than you've accrued on silly baguettes

I know silly begets silly you'll learn on your own

At least my conscience is clear, I'm no longer steering you wrong

Ain't nothing wrong with baguettes after you get a home

Take care of your home

Jay might have started off that way but you can't judge a man for what they were doing 20 years ago.

Through the years his message did change just as it should've.

I'm in my mid-30s and I've been listening to Jay since I was a teen. Own every album. But I think there's a lot of stans when it comes to Jay too. And personally, I don't see a difference between the two albums (4:44 and TPAB) when it comes to quality and replay value. I actually like TPAB a little better. But that's just me.

I guess we can agree to disagree on this matter.
