Would Nas be the GOAT without "ETHER"?

I feel alotta yall are not being truthful here. Niggas wasnt on that "he woulda been the Goat regardless" shit when takeover first dropped. Jay z had alotta cats turning on him and i was around back then too to see it. Yall cant tell me had ether not dropped the perception of Nas wouldna been completely different.

Put it like this, ...Nas was able to have a great response to takeover and wrestle a bunch of respect back. Mobb deep didnt have a decent response with "Crawling" and both nas and the mobb from that point on went opposite directions. Lets stop pretending this aint obvious yall

I think the reason Mobb and Nas went in different directions is absolutely because, Nas is the superior MC\Artist. Whereas, Mobb is\was limited as MC\artists.

Nas is one of my favorites rappers and pound for pound the best writer in the history of rap, just in terms of putting words together. But he ain't the GOAT. Also, if we're being honest, Ether wasn't a great record. It was average to good, not great.

Those limitations didnt stop Mobb they first 3 albums. I think people underestimate how Bad Jay was hurtin niggas brand in the streets when takeover dropped.

Naz fans are delusional lol...on what basis is he the GOAT?

He's not the best technical lyricist of all time...he's not the most versatile MC, tbh he's quite one dimensional...doesn't have the most longevity...sales either...so how the fuck is he the undisputed GOAT?

Top 5 sure...but GOAT? FOH...word.

All Nas had to do was come back with a hard diss and he did that. he needed a good battle and since biggie and pack died jay was the only one left to crush. but could Nas have ethered biggie?

Why is ethering Biggie far fetched? Tupac did it

And the fact you said all Nas had to do is come back with a hard diss futher proves he needed to respond which is my point. Would stillmatic be good without it? By the standard we put on Nas sure it woulda but i think there is something to be said about an mc showing some heart when one of the best rappers and most popular comes out and tries to take a piss on your legacy.

To be the GOAT u have to maintain relevance ur whole career...cant be irrelevant from 99'-01', and then irrelevant again from 01'-06'...thats just too much irrelevance lol...then again from 06'-12'....been in the game 20 years and been relevant maybe 8 of those years, yet he's the "undisputed GOAT" smh

To be the GOAT, all hip hop fans have to fuck wit u, all demographics, ethnicities and age groups, not just dusty black old niggas age 27-40...u the GOAT but yet the avg 21 year old a barely acknowledge ur existence? FOH.

SN....Nas rarely does any features so in between mediocre albums the man really is the epitome of irrelevance, he be ghost, u cant hear from him...while the real GOAT makes sure he's relevant even in between albums.

The nigga wit the most #1 albums, the most money (rapper wise), the baddest bitch, the most influence, the most respected amongst his peers (young and old rappers), with the most longevity (16 years of maximum relevance, 98'-14'...I wont even count anything before HKL Vol 2, when I easily could).
