To be fair, there are Muslims who do speak out against Muslim extremism (see Memritv.org) but in way too many cases, these Muslims have almost no influence on wider society. And it's because Islam encourages violence and aggression against those who believe differently. Other religions had their time to commit many atrocities. And some still continue to this day. Islam is a new religion so they are going through the phase now but they are not worse than other religions. It's just too much world politics attached the conflicts regarding Islam and the way the media represents the whole religion doesn't do it justice. Well some other countries especially in the Middle East and Africa don't have this freedom of speech we enjoy so well here in the U.S. In countries like Afghanistan, girls who try to attend schools face a lot of violence. In Iran, people don't have the freedom to speak up and it's the same in numerous countries. In Saudi Arabia, women are still not allowed to vote or drive a car. Do you think those people are happy with these strict rules. But they can't go out and start protest like we do here. There is much higher consequences they would face.

To add on to this, again, there is a reason why people run away from these places in droves. The ones who can't run dream about getting away. You got to really know a muslim before they confess to you how they not feeling the religion. Otherwise you will never hear them speak on the bad smh.
