Why is Obama challenging the Arizona law when MOST Americans support it......?

I hear what ya'll are saying, but I think Obama may have signed a "I want to lose in 2012" sign over his neck by opposing this law, more so by suing Arizona over it. Polls may not mean much, but let's not forget how accurate the polls were in predicting Obama winning in 2008. Polls are not 100%, but they tell us A LOT of what's going on in the nation.

The law is against illegal immigrants, and most Americans are against illegals, including blacks......why sue a law that is against illegal migrants??? Obama just gave ammo to those who hate him, not good.....Obama needs to stop sueing Arizona and let each state handle their business the way they want to when it comes to immigration. Otherwise, he's risking letting another Republican nutjob get in office.

Most americans support the law? Nawwwwww you got it all backwards, the large majority outside of rich utopias have shown distaste for the law.

Poll after poll after poll shows the same result.....when is ONE poll going to show that most Americans are against the law? I've yet to see one......have you? I'll wait when a poll finally shows that, lol.

How is it racists (based on the definition of racists) and xenophobic? Xenophobic, meh, I guess we should sue those who are goraphobic and have societal issues. What about illegal means ILLEGAL don't you understand. And don't dismiss the FACT that because the MAJORITY of illegals are of hispanic descent, it is not hispanics that are being outed, but illegals... and as stated just because they are the majority (which shows a lack of integrity on their part for knowingly breaking a law or claiming ignorance), it isn't racists if most apprehended are of illegal descent. Being that this country is, and I mean IS a melting pot, yelling out xenophobic is just a shock vale word.

I support it... and I sure as hell no i'm not racists. I just feel that there are laws and procedures that are set in place for a reason. And to tolerate one infraction can lead to chaos and anarchy (with time). I'm sure you don't want that. And being a former marine and current soldier, I don't really like the fact that money is being given to those who are not deserving of it based on the requirement of being a citizen or naturalized. How would you feel if you took your kid(s) to the hospital and had to wait while illegals could just walk in and get seen because they are recieving medical benefit subsidies from the government. That's not a comfortable feeling is it? It's beyond the shock value of terms like racists or xenophobia... while there are ignorance out there that do not make the initiative appealing, those terms do not reflect (I feel) the majority who support it.

Please. Pfft with all this shit about people being illegal.

If we were to get technical about who is illegal in this country, indigenous people are the only ones that are Americans. Every other motherfucker who came to this country is illegal, especially white folks, whose descendants have the nerve to be talking about "protecting borders."

Point is, most people who come here aren't criminals. They are people who need jobs and a better life because NAFTA and international trade keeps fucking them over in their home country. Not to mention that the US makes the legalization process difficult to keep people from coming.

I don't care if someone is illegal or not. Until 3rd world economic poverty and political oppression ends, I continue to support people making a better life for themselves, whether they cross border with papers or not.

Polls are only a small percentage, and most of that time the polls are conducted on very wealthy areas so of course they would oppose anything that might cost them an extra 34 dollars a month in taxes.

Look at all the protest in Arizona and across the country that have taken place. The NBA and NFL have both spoken out against it, whens the last time you seen David Stern allow the rich ways to be protested?
When Stern sticks up for anything non jewish you should know it aint accepted nationally.

David Stern and the 1,000 + people who work in the NBA are not exactly representative of people in the nation either. Of course the rich are for illegal immigration though, why pay an American citizen a living wage when you have illegals willing to work for 3 dollars an hour?

Yep, just let in EVERYBODY who wants to work in America come on board.....America's social services are being overwhelmed as we speak, hospitals and schools are closing down, and you want EVERRRRYBODY to come on board and further bankrupt us. Ok, I guess you enjoy seeing these young kids out here have to sell crack and ass for a living because so many illegals are taking jobs that young teenagers used to do.

Yep, chaos and no borders are the solution. I understand how whites stole this land and everything but when is enough immigration enough?? Obama is looking like he's gonna lose in 2012 if he wants to be in favor of illegals on this issue. Don't say I didn't warn anybody if Obama loses huge 2 years from now, this issue is REALLY pissing people off out there. His poll numbers are down the drain now, for the most part (although it could be much worse).

All presidents get bad polls at one point or the other, but for Obama to SUE Arizona over an issue that will only hurt Obama if he's left wing is CERTAIN political suicide.

you lost all your credibility right.....there.

if you have a child whose only option is to sell crack and ass because mcdonalds hired pedro and not him, you have failed as a parent and a human being. immigration is the least of your problems.

Life isn't so black and white like that. What if that kid had a parent who just got laid off? Shit happens.

And do you have any idea how harsh Mexico's laws are against it's own illegal immigrants???

They treat illegals in Mexico a thousand times worse than here in America. I have no personal beef with illegals, but this country is going broke day by day because of so many people overwhelming our social services. I got two powerful links I'm gonna post up very soon, after I finish smoking some good trees.

First link will be how harsh Mexico is against illegals.....the 2nd one will show how OTHER states in the USA will soon enact their own version of the Arizona law. At least 20 states, LOL.... is Obama going to sue 20 states???

I guess some of ya'll want Obama to lose in 2012, I want him to WIN.

obama opposes this because he doesnt govern. he campaigns. he monitors daily polls and tries to guess how americans will react to the legislation. when it looks like americans dont like it, he will oppose and condemn it. remember the cambridge police that "Acted stupidly" ? they acted stupidly until his loserness actually looked into things and saw that the cop was acting normally, then all the sudden theres a beer summit and everyone makes nice. same thing here. some bleeding heart liberal pansies oppose this, and obama playing politics will try to capitalize on the race card and go against it. that is, until crime continues to go up, and illegal mexican immigrants continue to take american jobs and murder american citizens. then, when the pressure heats up, obama will support this and send more troops to support the boarder.

all the man does is campaign. he is not a leader

But as the debate continues over whether to crack down or ease up on illegal immigrants in the United States, little attention has been paid to the treatment immigrants receive in Mexico.

Similarities abound between the two countries' policies, given that Mexico built much of its 1917 constitution and other laws on the United States' example. But Mexico has some noteworthy standouts:

Under Article 123 of the General Population Act, illegal immigration is an offense punishable by up to two years in prison and a fine of up to 5,000 pesos, or about $450. Typically, any crime with a punishment of a year or more is considered a felony.

Article 118 of the act says foreigners who are deported and then later attempt to re-enter the country without authorization can be punished with up to 10 years in prison.

Under Article 73, local police must cooperate with federal immigration authorities when asked to help enforce the nation's immigration laws.

As set forth in several articles of the act, immigrants are admitted into Mexico according to their potential to "contribute to the national progress" and must have the income needed to support themselves.

Article 9 of the constitution says only citizens may assemble to "take part in the political affairs of the country." Under Article 33, noncitizens "may not in any way participate in the political affairs of the country."

------Hmm......how ironic. And why is Obama protecting illegal immigrants again? I see a whole lot of fucking hypocrisy on Mexico's side. Arizona's law doesn't look very different than Mexico's extremely harsh policies on illegal immigrants. And people wonder why the sympathy with illegals is dying out.....Arizona is going to be joined by many other states and cities that will VERY SOON crack down hard on illegals who are draining our resources.

that's not a technical argument, it's a moral one

its crazy to me that the report did not offer up the raw data so we can view them ourselves.... Knowing what I know about statistics & how ppl can easily manipulate the stats to show you a story they (the data preparers) want too I cannot take this poll for its face value...

*Just looked up McClatchy Company.... it is a Sacramento based comapny*

So this means most if not all of the ppl polled were in AZ, CA, NV or TX... *i see someone saying "DUH"* but this article states "Americans" as in polls were sent throughout the country (which I extremely doubt happened). So you can see this poll may be bias and show only a certain mid-western view of the problem... All I am sayin is what Mark Twain said ...."There are three kinds of lies: lies, damned lies, and statistics."

I dont think its cracking down on illegal immigration.... its really about how the law is worded bc it is extremely vague & was directed towards (or perceived to be directed towards) the hispanic/latino community, which is the largest growing minority class in the US... Obama has said he wants to crack down on illegal immigration but not the way Arizona is...

Racism may be logic but it's flawed logic. THats what YOU dont understand.

Anybody can intellectualize their hatred. Rarely can a majority group hate a minority group and have good reason. Face it. THOSE CRACKERS HATE MEXICANS AND WANT THEM GONE. SIMPLE.

Maybe it's not all hate. Maybe it's the fact that too many illegals are taking up resources from our hospitals and schools? Uncontrolled immigration will see a further drain on our resources.....that's something ALL races can see. I'm gona post up some interesting links that will show you how most blacks feel about illegal immigration, let's see what you say than.
