everybody talks about human behavior, though process and all that junk, but having taken a college level psych class, i now realize 90% of these people have no idea what they're talking about. and they're usually wrong. do these people really think they are qualified to come up with theories and shit having no background in the subject? what i wanna know is why does everybody discuss these things knowing damn well they don't know shit about shit. psychology, politics, and economics seem to be every smart dumb niggas favorite subjects. like, most of the time your hear people discussing math or science, they have some kind of background in the subject, but most psychological discussions are nothing but buzzwords, and baseless arguments. smh at using "some guy you met at the gym who also did that" as evidence.

and no, i'm not mad, i'm just curious.

And this is the part where you school everyone on what you've learned in psych 101 right??

Judee Burgoon ushered in the theory of human behavior in organizational communications. She's more known for her work in psychology though but she brought all of these different suggestions to workplace relations in an era where people took scientific management as the end all be all way to deal with employees.

Elton Mayo (hawthorne experiments), Douglas McGregor (theory x/y)....all human behavior theorists. Which I learned about in business school. So....

U don't have to take psychology to know some theories in the subject...or to tell people your opinion on things based on the actions you see them taking.

And yea u do seem mad. Tell us why you're really venting? WTF did someone say to YOU to make you think they are tryna play 'fake ass psychologist"? How bout talkin bout that...

bolded -I've never come across this, personally.

underlined - I have mixed feelings about (cognitive) psychology being considered a science to begin with. It's hard, if not impossible, to test psychology theories since you can't directly observe consciousness. A physicist or a chemist can test their theories and observe the results, they can say "when this happens or when conditions are this way, this occurs, that's a law" but there are no "laws" in psychology and most of the conclusions drawn are based on statistics (how most people usually behave). Maslow's hierarchy, for example, is just an inference. Lately I've been interested in the Meyers Brigg Type Indicator/Carl Jung's theory of personality but I don't know how credible that is either. Psychology is still interesting, though.

Forget the fact that I have a degree in Psych and an advanced degree in the human sciences field.

Anyone who has studied the humanities realize that all they are doing is advancing knowledge which they already have.

There is nothing particularly "Intelligent" about having some knowledge about politics. Politics dominates the communities in which we live. At some level everyone has at least some knowledge on the workings of the political system.

Too much of a premium is placed on intelligence. And in my humble opinion I find that the African American community is always prone to point who is smart and who is not; then proceed to use the most ridiculous scales to measure said intelligence.

People like to lie that's why they "pretened" like they know everything about psychology .... I was pretending that I know what most people think when I wrote this statement

To be fair, most people act the same way, Its not hard to notice patterns in behavior.. Its not hard to *act* like you know psychology either, but psychology is the study of human behavior to better understand it. I pray that everyone on this board is doin this everyday. You don't need a degree to be good at it either, the man got yall thinkin you need papers to be correct, and good at something all the time.
