Whose rapping abilities fell off more: Jay-Z or Eminem

Jay's two verses on 'Pound Cake' (which is on another nigga's album) >>> anything he spit on MCHG .. I think he has more fun lyrically as a guest act on other people's albums than he does his

He's been off since '03. Eminem been off since '02 (TES and 8 Mile)

So they about even even though I'll go fully with Jigg's music

Oceans and Heaven might be two of the top 5 songs of the year.

when did eminem's ability fall off? have you heard the new album? the concepts aren't there but his raw ability to rap is still top notch

LMAO @ the poll results. I guess this forum thinks that rapping fast with big words = being a good rapper. MMLP2 was definitely an improvement from his last 3 horrid releases, but to say Em is better than Jay is absurd. MCHG is a good album (better than MMLP2), and Jay's performance on WTT > anything Em's done since 2002. LOL @ people mentioning Rap God as some kind of argument in Em's favor. Besides a couple of lines, that song is completely forgettable. "to rap like a computer must be in my genes, I got a laptop in my backpocket", "how could I not blow, all I drop are f bombs", "if I can't batter the women, how the fuck am I supposed to bake em a cake then"...this is good lyricism to you?

It seems like most of you don't really have a good understanding of what 'good rapping' truly is.

Ems content is redundant, production sucks, and makes corny songs that become hits. But as rap god showed fuck around and he ll body ya.

Yeah, Eminem should have been rapping about how rich he is for the last 15 years.

yeah, cause that's all Jay raps about on songs like Heaven, Holy Grail, New Day, Why I Love You, Made In America, No Church in the Wild, Nickels and Dimes, Jay Z Blue, Glory, Welcome to the Jungle, Empire State of Mind, Young Forever...the list goes on. Even on the braggadocio songs, to claim that ALL he raps about is 'how rich he is' is a HUGE misrepresentation and a disservice to any literary critic.

The quote's been overused, but 'do you fools listen to music, or do you just skim through it?' couldn't be more accurate.

but all of those you mentioned are some of hte worst songs in all of jayz's career....regardless of concepts his hunger isn't there, his flow is weak, and the lyrical ability has all dropped considerably

The more I delve into the Eminem joint... I will say certain songs he brought his supreme spit, the survival joint has been out but I think after further digressing it he went tf in... He should have kept this song instead of putting it on the video and dropped it as his first single, it would have gotten a lot better reception than berserk did

Im not gonna vote on this cause I cant take someone who names themself after Fat Joe seriously......

Nobody has fallen off...It's just that the landscape of Rap music has changed over the years... What ppl used to find cool aint so cool anymore.

JayZ didnt fall off, he just doesnt make music for the hood or true heads anymore. He's more concerned with his image among the Bougie negros(Oprah,Barack, etc) and the Hamptons bunch(Rich white ppl). You can tell by the videos and content of MCHG. Dude had a chick from that hipster show "Girls" all over his video, but Im sure that if need be, he will still show how it's done(Just like Will Smith)

It's unfortunate that Em gets a biased opinion everytime cause of expectations....He stays in his own lane and gets shitted on for being a white dude in Hip Hop..Ppl say he's fallen, but I dont agree....Hip hop is 5 components and Mc's is one of them....Production is not....Em is probably the best MC out. he's the only battle rapper to take it to the next level successfully and still doing it.....

The reviews on this last album should truly be the answer to if he's fallen off......

Jay gets shitted on for releasing KC and BP3 but Em has Encore Recovery and Relapse (not bad) in his stash and niggas act like that shit ain't never happen.

And stop that shit, production is just as important as lyrics are.

If that was the case their would be a shit ton of a cappella albums.

How can niggas devalue production when whoever they are critiquing values it?

Look at SH last album production wise, Em know what the fuck he doing.

Neither of them are anywhere near as dope as they were ten years ago. Eminem can still flow, but Jay has it to still kill a verse.

Who said Em is better than Jay? The OP asked who fell off more, and that's clearly JayZ; however, despite that fall off he still gets the nod over Eminem.

Your reading comprehension skills are lacking.

Bruh ain't nobody talking about subject matter. Jay's flow, and word play fell off times 10 and it's pretty evident. And Em isn't the only battle rapper to take it to the next level, JayZ is a battle rapper stupid.

Also, to say Em is the best emcee is supreme bias. Emceeing refers to flow, voice, delivery, imagery, word play, metaphors, punches, diction, creativity, originality, live performance etc. In 2013, Em is lacking in at least half of those things.

This whole thread is funny when you really think about it... It's like comparing a team that was the #1 seed and won the championship one year then fell to #5 seed to a team that was the #3 and also fell to the #5 seed then asking who fell worse.... I guess if you look at it like jay was already pretty nice ahead then it's obvious that he's gonna have a further fall so I guess I get it

I see this thread discussing albums but I was literally breaking it down to the one aspect rapping abilities. Whatever it is Jay has lost that fire somewhere around BP3. He's not rhyming the same the bars aren't as strong. There are like a few verses on Watch The Throne and Magna Carta where Jay is really going in.

Drake even bested him on his last album.

I dont even think em fell off as much as i could go back and listen to his older music and say, yea he was nice then but it was no where near what i thought it was at the time.. even then he had his moments where he would spit some cold ass shit but what great mc doesnt.. even busta, redman, method man, dmx, qtip etc have had their moments but noone is crowning them the goat.. its the machine behind em.. not saying hes not a good rapper.. but without interscpope behind him, noone.would be calling him the goat.. hed be just another white rapper.. but he made music white kids could relate to and they ran with that shit becuz he has a nice flow and dre backing him
