Thats easy. Kendrick dropped an album thats hailed as a masterpiece and has a legit chance for album of the year. Drake dropped a couple cool joints as always but got exposed for using ghostwriters which hurt his credibility as an MC a lot. And he still aint got no classic album. Drake might have larger pop appeal but we talking hip hop and K.Dot will rap circles around him and keeps making better albums

Drake had wins and losses. Meek lost, but he did expose drake for having ghostwriters. If it wasn't already, his authenticity as an MC is now questioned and he's put into the popstar category even more. He also got punched by Diddy lol

Kendrick has only been winning as far as I know

Kendrick got aoty plus put in some great work on compton

Look at songs of he year, it riddled with kdot too

If Kendrick win album of he year...... :'(

Smh :'( .. i. Promise i wasn't gonna cry. the only thing bigger is, Cam winning the super bowl

...

It depends on how you look at it ... Most musicians dream of just even getting nominated for that AOTY . But also its not a lot of rappers can put out mixtapes and throwaway tracks and still be hits.

Kendrick Lamar winning this poll is akin to Out of Africa beating The Color Purple at the Academy Awards. That album KDot put out is geared towards nominations and was powerful but that came and went. For as good as it was meant to be, it didn't make the impact it should have. Drake's been running rap for years now. You gotta add in the Apple deal, dismantling Tyga, the Raptors stuff he's doing, the Hotling Bling video craze, how wild Back to Back moment was and fucking Serena Williams still.

It ain't as close as ya'll say. Kendrick Lamar is the underdog still. Drake remix verses are bigger than Kendrick Lamar singles.

Wtf does fucking Serena Williams and doing shit for the Toronto Raptors got to do with hip hop?

You gotta make a better argument than that homie.

I really don't know how you can make an objective arguement for Kendrick ....unless your just going to run with the whole "he got exposed for ghost writing" thing it's really open and shut ....people just didn't give a fuck about that sadly ...and on all other levels drake won ....

It used to be fuck the grammys now niggas want their favorite to win one.

Thats cool, but the Meek vs Drake shit this summer was still the biggest thing in hip hop, and Hotline Bling no matter how corny it was was the biggest song in hip hop this year. Take it or leave it.

Drake also went platinum off a mixtape turned album, and nearly gold with an album turned mixtape (or mixtape turned album whatever) with Future.

He's also breaking all types or social media & streaming records in hip hop or close to the top this year.

But Kendrick is the guy YOU WANT to win and represent your culture. Thats the honest truth.
