Who won 2015? - Kendrick Lamar vs. Drake

Kendrick. He put out an album as a mainstream artist that many artist would be afraid to put out. Kendrick may not have the commercial success that Drake has, but what Drake is putting out is music for "now." If we are to be honest with ourselves Drakes success is largely due to white suburban kids.

What has Drake said about the Black lives matter movement? What has Drake said about police brutality, or the happenings going on with Black America?

Nothing, and he will remain in a position of not saying nothing to not upset his fanbase of predominantly whites who are purchasing his music.

The Atlantic did an article on it:
http://www.theatlantic.com/entertai...e-been-silent-amidst-blacklivesmatter/383962/

Drake is a half Jewish white boy, who is culturally appropriating black culture, and the bodies of black women, while remaining silent on black issues, while making bubble gum music for mass consumer appeal.

I don't understand how you can neglect what Drake has done this year. His deal with Apple, the Raptors, and Jordan brand is all pushing the culture forward.

And i actually hope Kendrick racks up at the Grammys. He made an album that didn't chase any popular sound and was critically acclaimed

As much shit as Ive been talking about Drake since the ghost wwriter shit came into play, even I can see he had a big year, way bigger than Kendrick. Kendrick might of put out a great album (let some of yall niggas tell it, "its the best album EVER!!") but thats it.. he dropped his album and drifted back off into the background. Meanwhile Miss Drizzys been making noise all year long.

Both answers are wrong. Future and Fetty Wap won this year

@AggyAF gets it, if we keepin it 100 thats who it really should come down to, the two niggas who put in the most work. Id leave Drake in it too though and make it a 3 way poll.

11 Grammy nominations and already being on billboard top 10 rappers list all time>>>>>>>>making up a silly dance and making fun of meek for being on tour with your woman crush wednesday

That list was trash as fuck

And you're a dumbass for referring to that list as proof when Pac not on it and a women that's not a rapper.

So Lauryn hill ain't a rapper but Drake is???? Ummmm they seem kinda the same to me but whatever you say lil buddie

It used to be fuck the grammys now niggas want their favorite to win one.

Thats cool, but the Meek vs Drake shit this summer was still the biggest thing in hip hop, and Hotline Bling no matter how corny it was was the biggest song in hip hop this year. Take it or leave it.

Drake also went platinum off a mixtape turned album, and nearly gold with an album turned mixtape (or mixtape turned album whatever) with Future.

He's also breaking all types or social media & streaming records in hip hop or close to the top this year.

But Kendrick is the guy YOU WANT to win and represent your culture. Thats the honest truth.

lol EXACTLY.

This is basically a debate over pop vs the culture. Kendrick represents the culture while Drake is the pop rap icon. If pop appeal record sales and acclaim are more important to you your going to choose Drake. If you are deep into the underground and not really into the mainstream, but more organic sounds Kendrick Will be your choice.

Lmao Stop bruh. Kendrick got pop songs with taylor fucking swift.

Kendrick, because his music is the poster child/soundtrack for the current black lives matter movement , thats power to me.

don't let complex propaganda agenda make you think otherwise.

His shit ain't no damn representation of BLM...nigga did a whole track basically saying "but what about Black on Black crime?"

Nigga have you ever listened to dead prez?

So what, she asked him to feature on the song. Drake is still more of a pop rapper. You will never hear Drake make a lyric today about current times or whats going on. He wont even make a somewhat radical statement. Dude is strictly about that paper. He doesn't want to risk loosing that. Kendrick represents the semi conscious rapper who gets popular in the mainstream every couple of years. Yes he is mainstream, but how much of his sound is he really compromising. Example Pac-------Kanye West--------Lupe---------Kendrick + (maybe)Cole

I have to roll with Kendrick.

I don't give a fuck about record sales.Tickle me Elmo could come out with a Rap album and outsell Drake. And of course, you're going to get less record sales when you make a black centered album, but the white critics still gave him props because it was a dope album. You can't hate on great music.

Yeah, I know the Grammys is supposed to be the mainstream "they don't know anything about real Hip-Hop" award show. But compared to the other albums released in 2015, the Grammy's got it right. It's damn if you do and damn if you don't situation with the Grammys. If your favorite rapper is Mr. Fuck a Grammy and Mr. Fuck a Grammy got nominated, these hyprocrites would be given him props for doing so.

And you have to give Kendrick props for being one nomination away from tieing Micheal Jackson. I don't see Drake doing that and probably never will because you get the same ol shit from him. With each Kendrick project, he's always stepped his game up and tried something new - Like Micheal Jackson.

TPAB was a great album and was very fitting for all the social problems going on in Black America. I don't see protesters chanting hot line bling lyrics and doing cha-cha dances in front of police. Don't get me wrong, I understand everybody wants to chill and party too, but I have more respect for the rapper that can kick some real shit and make me bob my head, reflect and think at the same time.

Oh yeah ... KENDRICK WOULD KILL DRAKE IN A RAP BATTLE. The only thing Drake could win is some girlish Twitter/Instagram/Facebook meme battle.
