Here's my $0.02 on Jay.

He works with people when the project is mutually beneficial. He handles his business and doesn't hold anybody's hand. If that person (Cam, Beans, Dame, Jay Electronica, etc.) can't hold their own weight he doesn't try to pull them up. He moves on and makes sure his business is straight like Six O'clock.

You can't blame him. He's pushing 50. How would he look trying to help somebody else get established at this stage in the game? If Jay notices they don't show up to events on time, or that they smoke too much weed, or all they do is smoke weed Jay isn't obligated to do anything for them. All Jay can really do is make sure the engineer at the studio gets paid, but he can't help it if the artists don't show up on time, or if they can't come up with a hook to match their verses.

Jay knows how to make a hit record. There's a difference between being able to craft a nice 16 and knowing how to craft a hot song. If those cats that were signed to his label couldn't make hits then what was he supposed to do?

Well if they were on their grind when The Roc was poppin, how could they fade into oblivion? Cam, Juelz and Jim Jones had some success after The Roc broke up, and Kanye but there's about 5 or 6 people that I haven't heard from since The Roc split. My best guess is that they expected the label to do their work instead of doing the work themselves (paying for studio time, filling out publishing paperwork, manufacturing CDs and T-Shirts to sell at shows, booking their own shows, etc.) Jay probably looked at them and decided that he was on another tier and distanced himself.
