back in the 90s in houston if u were from new york wasnt gettin any love from a street perspective. if jammed anything besides a screw tape u were lame. of course niggqaz were listening to bthnh, twista, and various other rappers from the west coast got some burn, wu tang got nearly no love. niqqaz werent really messin wit outkast like that either. i say right around biggie's LAD streets of houston were more open to east coast music as long as it wasnt no mop shit. but fortunately i wasnt the closed minded type so i listen to nearly everything. one the 1st albums i remember listening to was black sheep's 1st album.

this highlights my point with all these East/South threads.. Southern posters say this a lot.. but let a East coast say Eightball got no burn in 1998 in NYC southern cats act like that wasn't true.

no lie, east is slowly becoming more open minded toward all regions since the 90's, but other coasts BEEN accepting of everything, i bet down here i can find niggas more easier who'll bump gucci mane and jay-z in the same playlist(myself included) from what ive seen with the east honestly is the guys who are still stuck on boom bap sounds, and refuse to accept anything as better than or as good as, the regional artists from their heyday (niggas saying its ridiculous for ball and mjg to be better than mobb deep and trolling and catching feelings) for example, or the guys who wanna blame south for "ruining hip hop"

If someone feels mobb deep is way better than 8ball and mjg or vice versa so what? It will take 10 minutes to go back to said debates and highlight the relevant comments, but the last time I did it, none of you niggas had a retort for that, except the feelings button. I challenge you niggas to go back and find a thread of NY niggas bashing music outside of NY, other then some direct retaliation of some shit said beforehand. For every one you bring me, I will show you a dozen in the opposite direction.

Not to mention, the idea of East Coast niggas being close minded to other sounds is a direct contradiction to the whole concept of the Southern Sound runnin' shit commercially at the moment. It doesnt make sense.

Kay Slay and Funk Master Flex told a story of DJing in New Orleans in 1999 at the time the biggest/hardest Tunnel/Club Banger was MOP "Ante Up" they put that on the crowd stop dancing until he put on some Luke shit. Houston is ignorant as fuck though. I've visited other cities, they only support their own and surrounding cities. You'll never hear about anyone else unless it's some bad news.
