Was this a bad thing during that time?
Hate it or Love it .. that lil queer was carring hip hop during the "Best Rapper Alive" era.
His presence (directly or indirectly) made other artist step their game up.
There was a time where you HAD to have a Lil Wayne feature on your project, (rather mixtape or album).

Wayne did features with: Jada, Andre 3000 (x2), Nas, Jay-Z, Scareface, Kanye', Bun B, Busta Rhymes, John Legend etc etc.
All of these were before "Carter 3" .. i'm assuming that is the album your talking about??

Wayne fell ALL the way off since then. But we cant say he didnt have an impact in todays sound.
I'm not a Wayne stan .. but you gotta give him a little bit of credit.

my first response would be RAKIM 86-92..He changed the way the whole industry rhymed. But WuTang has got to be mentioned in this discussion. 94-98 they had the game on control. And i'm not talking bout no bullshit record sales and selling shoes and hats. I'm talking bout spitting ill rhymes. who was fucking with the Wu at that point?

Let's be honest, I see Drake missing from a lot of lists. That dude is running shit right now. Hate him or love him, Summer 2009-onwards has been the Drake era

Wu-Tang? Really?

Never thought about about them "dominating", but interesting mention, nonetheless.

1. I made a thread about this last week in terms of quality of Music nobody is beating Wu from '93-'97 dropped too many great albums.

2. I actually lived and listened to rap in throughout the 90s and Pac's legacy didn't come prior to his death cats listened to pac he sold a good deal of records but he certaily didn't have the rap game on lock it was too many good artists back then for that.

3. But in terms of almost world wide domination you gotta go with "The superdope homeboy from the Oaktown" nigga had shirts, microphones, backpacks, just about any piece of merchandise you could think of. Endorsement deals with KFC, Pepsi, etc and had his own cartoon in 1990. Before white America jumped on the Hip-Hop bandwagon He crossed over like no other artist had before and maybe like no other artist will again.
