Its been time to stop comparing these dudes to nas big jay and Pac. Those dudes had real comp, not just with each other but the greats before them not to mention all the others on top of their pen game. Like the wu, outkast, naughty, Redman, cube etc Kendrick comp it's what ross ,Cole ,big Sean and drake and he's a pop star so its really only 3 people to compete with. Ross doesn't cruise in Kendrick lane so that drops it down to Cole and big Sean. Its a different league now. He can't be compared to the golden era class imo imo

Thats exactly what I was saying in the mid 90s. People were talking about Treach, Nas, Snoop, Pac, Biggie, Wu Tang, Redman, etc. My response was always, "Yeah but KRS, Rakim, LL, Big Daddy Kane, etc. have 4-5 albums, these new guys only have 1 or 2 albums"

It's the same argument we have about basketball. The new players can't be as good as Jordan, Bird, Magic, etc. because the competition was so much more stiff back then.

We shouldn't hold that against the new players or rappers though. They can't help the generation they were born into. Hell, they might have been even better if they had the comp from back in the day.

For rappers though, we've got to give new niggas that actually have bars their credit. Rappers back in the day had the machine behind them as lyricists. The machine is against lyricists now and they still standing their ground.

Kendrick top 5 in my opinion. Top 5 can't be stuck in pre 2000.

Real talk, GKMC is a classic in any era. Id put it up against any other album and it will hold its own. TPAB wasnt my cup of tea but apparently im in the minority and Damn is shaping up to be a solid ass album at the least. Kenny embodies what every hip hop head says the game needs or is missing, he is the opposite of all this fuck shit in the game you gotta love or salute.

Niggas argue all day about who"s the best MC Kendrick, Jay Z or Nas.

I'm listening to this album and really feeling his vibe and creativity but realized this niggas lyrics is just okay. Not a single line stands out for me.

He'll never be on Nas level fuck outa here with that shit.

If you wanna keep it a stack, Nas was a prodigy, he is a lyrical genius. Nobody will probably ever see him lyrically, but at this rate Kendrick is going, he is on track to go down with the likes of Nasir. Not because his lyrics are better than Nas's but because he does everything so well, lyrics, concepts, stories and he puts them all together so cohesively on albums. The best lyricist have always struggled with this.

Great Album, after great album that shit is starting to add up. Ill put it like this Lebron is nowhere near as dominant as Shaq but that nigga just passed Shaq on the alltime scoring list because Lebron is consistent and I think that consistency is where Kendrick is going to close the gap. The comparisons might be some prisoner of the moment type shit but Kenny is doing his job to get in the conversation, its warranted.

He's got the best chance of catching NaS

How you figure that ?? I'd say he'd catch Pac 1st

I know what you mean but you overlook the fact that Pac is a cultural Icon, he was much more than a rapper or MC we might not see another rapper ascend to those heights in our lifetime and when the movie drops if they do him justice thats just going to add to his legend and put that nigga that much more out of reach.

Kendrick fans are an album a way from starting the duckworth religion.

He dropped 4 great projects in a row. Chance gotta a grammy for 3 so I guess there are #NewRules so we retro actively counting Section 80 it was an independent album not a mixtape.

We gotta start putting this nigga in the convo. There are rappers in niggas top 5's and top 10's that dont have this type of body of work let alone a bonefide classic like GKMC.

I'm gonna tell you the truth. GKMC is a dope album. Matter of fact Kendrick has 4 really good albums in a row but he has no goddamn classics. Personally I'd put The Games first two over GKMC. Creative songs and dope flows is cool in all but you can't wear the crown with ok lyricism.

I been debating GKMC over the Documentary for like 2 weeks

I wonder how old some of the people in here are. I was speaking to a 17 year old he said he's never heard a jay z album and jay z is to preachy his very next words was Kendrick is the best.
