Where does Kendrick rank all time? Whats his ceiling? Is he as good as Biggie?

I don't know if Kendrick can reach G.O.A.T. status, but I do believe he has a high ceiling to continue to mature in his music and release quality work. I respect his relationship with Dr. Dre due to the fact that he doesn't need his help but that he can continue to make socially aware music and not have to worry about the label rejecting his work because of Dre's co-sign.

Shit like this is why artist longevity has declined over the years.

Labelling artist GOAT off of one album and a radio freestyle or some shit.

Just attracts negativity.

I avoid majority of threads like this due to the fact I'm 28 y/o, I ain't gunna be actin like a groupie for no other grown ass man....

But but but Biggies labled GOAT off 2 Albums.

Big's music has aged very well, like fine wine.

A lot of people from that same era dropped good albums that didn't age well.

To compare Kendrick to Big you'd have to wait 20 years to see how GKMC ages.

Kendrick definitely has potential and he has classic projects, so he is definitely top 10/GOAT calibre in my opinion. However, I won't be quick to crown him with that status only because of today's music business and how it can sabotage the music as a whole. There was once a time when I thought that Lupe would supplant the current GOAT imo, Nasir Jones, but then Atlantic records inserted their fuckery and the rest was history. See how Kendrick maneuvers through the business.

Lupe Fiasco is free of those trans-Atlantic slave chains.

Classic albums change the trajectory of a culture. Classic albums capture a moment or event in time to perfection. Classic albums inspire and force others to bite.

Classic albums are crafted by exceptional artists be it via the medium of intellect, skill or charisma.

Sorry folks Kendrick is not that and none of his music has fulfilled any of the above.

Having been around Hip Hop Music for some time Kendrick hasn't produced any overly profound material. The only people that would and could say he has are people new to Hip Hop or have ignored Hip Hop's intellectual and socio-political Music. Kendrick hasn't set himself apart from any of the listed artists.

Dead Prez and on and on and on.

Stop over rating today's Hip Hop artists because, just to be down.

Yeah but half the people on that list never dropped a classic album and are only known for one or two good songs.

GKMC is a classic. I'll give him that.

That's your opinion. As it is mine that neither of Kendricks efforts are or were classic. There is absolutely nothing ground breaking about his work. And comparing his work and saying it's greater then any artist on my list is pure befuckery. It might be on par (I am being very generous) but not greater .

Kendrick is extremely overrated yes he has 2 very good cohesive albums. But I have heard a hell of a lot better rappers & certainly a hell of a lot better albums than he has. Dude is very average overall but all these hip-hop websites & bloggers dick ride over rate dude because he is a breath of fresh air. A guy like Kendrick was very much needed in hip-hop to many trend followers. But I would fuck with drake before him & happen to think drake is a wwwwaaaaaayyyyy better mc than. Guys like him & jcole get overrated because of the hip-hop climate rappers like them came a dime a dozen in the 90s.

I think its getting to the point where people are starting to overrate him. But lets not front like he aint nice. Drakes nice but where are his cohesive bodies of work? Take Care is his most cohesive but his other albums are underwhelming. He aint fucking with Kendrick at all. Drake is the modern day Jadakiss, dead nice but no classic albums to back him up imo. As far as Kendricks coming a dime a dozen in the 90's ill assume you were born no earlier than 89. And you read about how great the 90's where.

TPAB is not a classic imo..good album n gutsy move on his part as far as the route he took...but its not a great overall album...super lyrical of course but it doesnt have that "classic" next level feel to it. Thats just me though, to each his own

why do we treat hip hop like its a sport? how high is his ceiling? too much mel kiper

if you want to put him the convo for goat then you have the explain why. saying someone has a classic album isn't good enough.

Come on now how biggie going to be on a rap Mount Rushmore? Life after death had more filler than a Rick Ross sandwich. Sure ready to die was dope but one classic doesn't = rap goat

Im starting to think To Pimp a Butterfly went over a lot of peoples head. You need to keep listening. I mean on my first 2-3 listens maybe I had same opinion as the people who dont seem to think its outstanding. But I stayed with it. And first the beats finally got me. Then the lyrics started to sink in..its really got a lot of dept. Its high art in my opinion.

I listened 3 or 4 times and dont care to keep listening and its not that its over my head. Hes trying to kick knowledge but he aint that knowledgable imo. My nigga tpab is no Nas Untitled where their may be some prerequsites to understand alot of the things he was talking about. Lol @ high art.

Its not so much that hes trying to kick knowledge, Yeah he is in a lot of it. but what i think people are missing is The personal stuff. A lot of introspective stuff going on in this lp. Its even more interesting than the so called " kick knowledge" parts. just my opinion.

I think you overestimate Kendrick too much. He is good but he is not the same level as Biggie . I do not think there is much difference between j cole and Kendrick and you would never say that j cole is better than the biggie .
