To me it was punchline and mixtape clones wares....At one point everyone new was a fab jada jay z banks and Cassidy clone and niggas associated east coast rap with oversized fitted and white t,s and screaming punch lines into a digi cam on utube.

.

-inflated since of self worth and importance to the rap game

-lack of creativity or original sound

niggas thought since they were from NY they ddint/shouldnt have to grind like others and the game owed them something w/o them having to prove anything...( you can tell this by how they speak or rap about other regions rappers)

Yeah jay z and dj def hurt when they when hard with the south love.no one from the east blew up under that run from j.not even people on the roc.

Yup dudes don't wanna do the Indy thing.but when they get signed they get shelved like red or vado.

only reason pappoose and uncle m on the radio and doing shows cuz they Indy and realized they was gonna b mix tapers for live.

To be honest it was the lack of new blood. That was the constant with the South. Since the South's rise there have constantly been new cats coming and going, adding new elements to the genre (positive or negative, your opinion).

No one Southern city has dominated for too long, ATL is the only constant but Tex, FL, NO/Louisiana, Tennessee all have had a run and it stays fresh.

50 was the last NY nigga really adding something different to the game, and then he went the Ja Rule route and offed himself.

Yeah the south has different artist rise every year and the heavyweights like Luda outkast and ti expand into pop culture.south has a crazy Indy game tho .

Look at the 3 people in here talking about an art form being dead.

Will religion ever die? Will smiling ever die? Will singing cease to exist in Africa someday?

Some things dont just go away, they are permanent.

You can't kill an art form or declare it dead.

Just because you've stopped listening and you equate album sales with relevance and "life" doesn't mean NYC rap is dead.

This discussion should be dead but again you can't kill, or declare dead, expression.

You asshole we mean why NYC lost the hip hop spotlight...and art forms can die, when's the last time u heard a new disco song u dickhead?
