Wow, all at 26??? Shit, most people get theirs at like 30 or so.

Yeah. I had it all at 23 actually. As soon as I finished my undergrad, I went straight to grad school. You need 150 credits in order to sit for the CPA, so I decided I might as well get my masters since I need the credits.

Currently Im studying Accounting....Im a 3rd year

I plan on getting my MBA afterwards....possibly a CPA....

I would like to be a corporate controller one day so management accounting is more catered to my tastes....and a MBA focuses more on that

That's along the lines of what I want to do. Except a concentration in accounting on my part.

Whats a MBA program like?

23??? Wow, even more impressive.
Thanks. It was easy since the school paid for my education and I didn't have any other obligations. I was really happy that I was able to get a job immediately after graduating.

It wasn't bad at all. I had mostly night classes that lasted almost 3 hours a few times a week. The "hardest" part was the long ass research papers/projects we had to do from the beginning to the end of the course, but I enjoyed it. I was going to have the concentration in accounting for my masters also but I was advised that it wasn't that important for me since my goal was to sit for the CPA eventually and what I really needed was the credits, so I just did the dual degree program that used my credits in accounting as an undergrad for grad school and I was able to finish grad in a year.

I have my degree in Accounting with a minor in Finance. Still wish I had went into a Master's program right after undergrad, but I'm still fortunate to have a good job in that field.

Frostburg State University.

Umm.. Not sure. I know I had to do an internship my senior year in undergrad and I had to work for the Business Dept. during my grad year.

I think for the STEM fields you need intelligence as well as for humanities but its a different type of intelligence that happens to be to some degree mutually exclusive. but in courses like business, communications etc you dont really need intelligence like that, just reproduce the content of the lecture or the textbook, thats what i hate about my major (international management).

i can understand the government's motivation cutting them because they dont produce numerable results. when harriet beecher stowe wrote uncle tom's cabin the economical impact was little but when a computer nerd starts his own company he might have a dozen of employees and a respectable turnover 2-3 years later so the government feels like the latter is more important. they neglect the fact that a book like uncle tom's cabin is attributed to be influential for the civil war that ended slavery. so the government's policy is a very short term one that only focuses on economical but not societal progress.

Very true.

I just graduated in June with a BA in Political Science. SMH. Easily one of the the worst decisions I've made in my life. I don't plan on going to law school anymore and I've lost all passion for politics. I might become a teacher but I don't know.

I doubt it, probably going to look for a job in the public sector and call it a day...FBI is my first choice

i see.. i want to land a job at the Fed or the Treasury as a 1st option... or at a private bank as an economic "consultant"... I heard you only need a masters to teach as some schools too so im considering doing that on the side as well

I'm studying Accounting. GOAT major. Also hopefully minoring in Finance.

I'm entering my 3rd year... but question for yall.. what's the purpose of getting an MBA if you're trying to get a CPA and be an auditor. I thought only the bachelor part was really necessary.

Edit: Never mind.. I see yall using it for the CPA credit requirement purposes and management future. If I could get an MBA in a year and it finished my requirements, yeah I would do it. I'm just fuckin tired of school.. And I want to be a controller eventually some day too but I thought the experience at a Big 4 or mid-sized firm would be enough... but maybe I would go back and get my MBA some time down the line too... not sure yet.

When I was applying for jobs after I graduated grad school most of the companies were impressed with me having my MBA because they knew that it meant I could sit for the CPA. I was an auditor right after college and most of the people on my level or at the senior level did not have their MBA and had to go back to school and take college courses in order to qualify to sit for it. It took up a lot of their time and many firms are now looking for people who already have the qualifications before considering hiring them. It's a good idea to just keep going right after undergrad. If you wait too long, you may lose your interest for it and may end of up putting it aside and a lot of companies especially audit firms require a CPA before promoting people to management levels.
