How can anyone say Mac Miller is wack, i'm listening to Kids right now and that shit is a straight boom bap sounding album. It's hiphop in it's essence and he is flowing too, if Nas was rhyming on these beats people would be going crazy.

I do agree it will happen slowly on a smaller level, it's gonna take a while because the Clear Channel, Viacoms, etc have their templates (catchy beats, basic lyrics, and catchy hooks). The beauty of hiphop is as much as the industry tries to control it's the youth who dictate what's hot and the music itself is counter culture music. A ground swell will occur sooner or later

im not sayin son is wack, i havent heard enough of his music to say weather he is or not. Just that in the current ic climate of "white rapper=wack rapper" some will clown you for this.

T/S is right, even Tech N9ne is getting loads of love despite being underground for over a decade - we won't know it's a golden era until we have the albums to prove it but we're definitely heading in a good direction...

I agree.

People complain about HipHops direction but I don't see today as being as bad as it was when snap-music was at it's height and LiL Jon was at his peek.

J.Cole just dropped the album of the year, one that he produced almost in it's entirety with lyrics and beats and moved 200K so I think the game is going in the right direction to a degree.

Lolwut? @ bold.

Otherwise I agree with the premise of the thread. T/S agendas or otherwise.

co sign. I'd much rather hear Otis and that new Cole/Trey song on the radio than the snap foolery.

Maybe, and I could prolly enjoy it if niggas step they beat game up on some early 2000's kanye, heatmakerz, just blaze type shit, or a new sound like dame grease had in the late 90's early 2000's, other than that niggas beats be trash these days when it come to so-called "real hip hop".

Hip-hop runs in cycles and I should be doing my thing in a few years anyways so I'll have to cosign this thread

Eh, it all depends on how much artists compromise for industry and radio. If people decide to be pop rather than authentic and innovative then hip hop will continue down a path to self-destruction, otherwise it will regain its soul and become great.

The amount of talent in the game has never really been to blame for hip hop's fall off.
