I didn't say they were.

That's why I was asking what were you saying it was about because you said

"The truth is far more sinister.

There was a lot of glorification in that doc. I just saw parts 3 & half of 4 but I noticed what was going pretty quickly."

The irony of ‪The Tanning Of America‬ is that Vh1 used to not play any type of rap/hiphop and promoted itself as a video channel w/ no rap. They used to play music for 47 yr old white dudes

That's because when VH-1 started it was for folks a bit older than the MTV generation that was running media at the time. Hence why alot of their signature early shows like Behind The music focused on older bands and groups. As people got older though and hip hop grew more powerful, rappers became the new "old school artists" and VH-1 adjusted. If you look at VH-1 in the 90's and look at it now it's like 2 different channels.

cosign and the blind eye to rap in a sense is just like early america and slaves. Every colony had slaves at one point. Over time people changed their views and honestly even in northern states it was done to spite southerners it wasnt even about true equality (see racist boston in the 70's but mass tried to pride its self on mlk going there).

Nobody wanted to play hip hop in its raw form pre michael jackson. And over time the only time the only reason they had hip hop on was for ratings and money. Only reason Viacom made BET was for new markets demographics and money. But all the bullshit on VH1 nowadays it was nice to see a dope documentary.

i liked the doc but the point of hip hop being the reason obama is president is a reach to me

Who votin for Obeezy babe?

Us yea..not tryna downplay hip hop but as time goes on and younger people start taking over, a country naturally becomes more progressive. Murica ain't special. Beezy had our vote anyway cuz he was the first viable black presidential nominee. We weren't gon pass that chance up.

The rest of the votes were from hipster white democrats, their hippy parents and mexicans. I don't think people were really like "oh I'm white but I listen to Jay so I'm cool with a black president"

If Hilary becomes first woman president in 2016 would hip hop be responsible for that?

Just peeping pt 2

Now we taking to hip hop fashion and how dapper Dan basically invented urban wear in NY

Now we getting to The Beastie Boys

the Jewish connection to hip hop is real

How ironic that The Beastie Boys took Public Enemy on tour to their white audience and they loved them

Nowadays these white ppl are so unaware they'll never ride w/ PE now and would call them racist

If Macklemore promoted Dead Prez today. white ppl would call Dead Prez racist

Damn! The Source was outselling Rolling Stone

Now we getting into hip hop movies.

I think master P's Bout It killed hood movies.Ever since then every rapper drops a cheap Scarface knock off.

No need for studios to invest in that shit anymore

The Fresh Prince of Bel Air was a game changer .Imagine a successful rapper getting a network sitcom in 2014

Vanilla Ice said ppl (black ppl) were hating on him because he was doing better than blacks at their own music. Nice

What's funny is the most vocal dissers of Vanilla ice were also white, 3rd Bass

Black teens being killed in the 90's, nothing changes Zimmerman ,Michael Dunn ,Trayvon ,Jordan Davis, Oscar Grant

LOL at Charlton Heston reciting the lyrics to Cop Killa at that press conference

Wooow never realized The Cosby Show finale came on during the LA Riots

Just off this drop im gon watch the whole thing. My ngga.

After the ESPN 'N Word' debacle i was scepticle what they were gonna do here.

But the fact they mention Dapper Dan shows me they not just glazin over the low hangin fruit, they goin deep. Yea, im watchin this.

This doc wasn't about Eminem or hip hop scandals from 2002

It's not like Em is the the big bad grinch that stole hip hop

Niggas still making money everyday.

I don't agree with what he was saying on that shit, but I've said a lot of bad shit in my life about whole list of things myself.

Action speaks louder than words, and Eminem puts money in to plenty of black, white,Asian,Latino, etc pockets

he said some fucked up shit a few yrs back and so has everybody, every person, every rapper

What he has contributed to hip hop and art in general is way bigger than some inappropriate shit he said 20-25 yrs ago.

I'm not denying he said some foul shit, but I think ppl can change, especially when your horizons are broadened.

Speaking of Eminem

Next Monday at 8 PM I will be the featured artist on Sway and King Tech's Wake up show on Shade45

i still plan on checking this out but i seen steve stout's interview on the breakfast club isnt this based off the book he wrote and a show he produced?

how is it about praising white people if he wrote/produced it? judging by his description of it sounds like the concept behind it is being misinterpreted.
