THATS what it is!

I knew he gave off a phony vibe to me but i couldnt put my finger on why....

Dude is rebelling against ... nothing ... there's really no message behind his "screw society" facade.

Dude is mad at the world prolly grew up in the burbs white people love him cuz them emo kids relate to dude

The bolded is a contradiction.

A great album should never "get boring"

that's a lie because I know and heard lot of boring "classics" but I'll save that for another thread..

Art should and can do alot of things: inspire, offend, intrigue.

But is should never, ever bore.

So please list these "boring classics" -- this should be interesting.

Thats what i'm saying. his core audience is likely kids that have everything except something to be mad about.

C/S, Nas was 18/19 when "Halftime" came out, and 20 when Illmatic dropped, reference his song Life's a Bitch. And Ice Cube was 21 when Amerikkka's Most Wanted dropped

Damn I forgot how young Cube was when he dropped that album. Knowing that it makes me even more dissapointed with how these new youngs niggas are coming out not saying shit. If anything this new generation would want to come out even better then the guys who did it before them. I thought the game is supposed to progess in way of skill??

I read an article written about him in the New York Times. According to the article he grew up with the typical father was never there, mother worked to keep food on the table lifestyle. But he seems like one of those really fucking hyper little kids who just did what he wanted because you really couldn't get him to focus. He's 20 but his thinking is like a really creative 8 year old. Kind of weird after reading the article.

The tragic irony is that Nas was the same age as Tyler when he recorded Illmatic.

So if you are asking if we still expect quality music from recording artists, the answer is yes.

I dont blame you at all. But that was a waaaaay different time, from a different type of artist. Nas was living in the projects. Tyler is growing up in an age of pop rap and i dont think hes ever known that struggle

I refuse to even entertain this.

Because you know Illmatic is boring. Did I say it was trash, terrible, weak? No, Illmatic is one of the Greatest if not the Greatest rap albums of ALL TIME. Personally I find myself falling asleep when I listen to it on occasions though. It's certain times when I listen to Illmatic when I know I'm woke and active.

Hmm, Tyler's good, he's got a solid album in Bastard and a good album in Goblin (it wasn't as good as I was hoping it'd be but still worth buying) but he's not the best rapper and he's not the best producer (Earl Sweatshirt's the best rapper; he's got massive potential despite the theme of his raps he raps better than most of Hip Hop and Left Brain imo is the better producer) but he's the complete artist as it were.

I'd still listen to nostalgia, ultra and blackenedwhite over Goblin personally.

No diss but how old are you?

Im not really understanding what you mean by boring.

Classics are timeless but those albums you listed definitly spoke for their times also.

I could never listen to any of those albums and not think of the yr that they came out. Basically every song will make you think of a memory.

That Odd Future bullshit just sounds like the same song of young niggas just mad and rapping about nothing. Other then Tyler's voice their music is indistinguishable from each others. All the production sounds pretty much the same and the raps arent really hitting on nothing. Thats whats making them boring.

I disagree...I respect Tyler more as being a complete Artist like Kanye West. He plays the piano well, makes videos, makes beats etc. As a rapper, I think hes trash and there are members in Odd Future that deserve more shine than him but they don't get it because they don't do the "Shock Value" things that Tyler does.

It's also a double standard going on here. This dude is coming off as a black version of a young Eminem but wheres all the backlash for that? Nah, I see threads everyday on how we can't relate to Em's music because that shit is to weird but when Tyler The Creator does it...he's just being different?

I listened to the Goblin album...the lil nigga said "I sticked my dick in a pregnant bitch...call that shit a threesome" Are you kidding me? smh

Yeah, that's what I mean. He's a complete artist and that's what he'll have over the others. Earl and Hodgy are definitely better rappers but he has got some talent as a rapper.

It's not about being relatable; Tyler's just doing shock rap. I think it's just that he's creating better music than Eminem, plus Eminem earlier in his career is better than what he is now for me anyways
