Yeah, that's what I mean. He's a complete artist and that's what he'll have over the others. Earl and Hodgy are definitely better rappers but he has got some talent as a rapper.

It's not about being relatable; Tyler's just doing shock rap. I think it's just that he's creating better music than Eminem, plus Eminem earlier in his career is better than what he is now for me anyways

Yeah, I see what you mean.

I need to give the Album a full listen. From what I heard so far, I'm not impressed. Frank Ocean joint on the other hand has a lot of replay value, other than that I'm not sold on these other cats.

alot of his newest fans are people just saying he's "cool" so they can appear to be "in the know" about the newest guy on the scene

fuck that. i'm a pretty good judge of character and he's lame. but i guess he has his own market of lame supporters

I listend to it just to see what all the talk was about and I wasnt that impressed..The beats sounded less than mediocre but I think he can spit but every other line is about how he got head or some variation on that.. WTF @how people get on these days

which is even more sad..how can a album with good production sound so boring?..I don't know but thats how I felt listening to Goblin. Good beats but the lyrics started to sound real corny. Hes saying things like being in the attic sucking his dads dick. I get the line (his father was never in his life so hes obviously making that up for shock value) but still, it's wack and sad hearing a brotha spit about shit like that.

But like you said, it isn't for everyone..I agree.

i'm not gonn adis the album since i haven't heard it yet but dude does seem extra gimmicky with it. it might be his real personality but if that's the case it's not a gimmick - just annoying.

i've seen a couple interviews though - does he have to say "nigga" every other word? he says it like he just recently turned black and realized he could say it and get away with it.

i've been trying to listen to their entire discography to make a full consensus and opinion on their stuff and i can say that because of tyler and earl the WHOLE group gets lumped in that whole thing about the group rhyming all about psychosexual fantasies of rape and torture and occultism. that's sad as fuck because i like mellowhype, mike g and mike martians has some dope-ass beats. as always the media is hopping on what the "next big thing" is these days and this group just happens to garner a grip of hype because of that subject matter.

that yonkers video is disturbing. dude looks fuckin' possessed in that shit and i don't see what's so fly about it. i have to wonder how earl's stint in that boot camp in samoa will affect him and his musical talent when he's released next year. i don't blame his mother for sending him there, she's doing what ANY responsible parent will do that is concerned for their child and the fact that tyler and the group keeps it a secret and don't talk about it makes it all the more mysterious and sad: even THEY know what is going on is wrong to an effect but won't acknowledge it which is the reason for the secrecy. they know crafting songs about the subject matter him and tyler constantly speak about is disturbing and demented but don't wanna admit it. you know what that's called? DENIAL.

their meteoric rise will fall and burn out in another year. you can't rhyme about that stupid shit forever and the rest of the members better think about their "odd future" before the industry uses them up and spits them out. eventually tyler will have to grow up and mature and progress not regress. i wasn't this immature when i was 20.

here's a spot to get other tracks from the other members:

that mellowhype shit isn't here so to the person that dropped the links to their albums on a separate thread drop them again. their website removed ALL the tracks they had before and got goblin up now for sale.

Am I the only one reading this?

Yeah I don't get the "boring" argument. I guess by today's standards a classic album has to be covered in dance tracks for white bitches to fist pump to, and a few I'm from the hood anthems.

Because that's all that's getting the most play right about now.

I mean honestly in the past five years can anyone on here name a classic hip hop album??

i'm not really sure what to think of this. on the one hand i'm really intrigued by it, but on the other hand i'm very confused by it. it's not very impressive or progressive imo. it's just different. and not that being different is bad, but there's nothing that really makes it different in a good way. i don't think lyrically hes that great.

i'm gonna keep listening and dissecting though, cause maybe something will make it click for me.

If I did Id be told to wait another 5 years too see it take full effect.. but there have been plenty of good hip hop albums, some game changing in the past 5 years

Well goblin slated to sell 50k independently..so its not like its some bigass movement you should be afraid of "ruining" hip hop lol
*actually its a one album deal with XL recordings, with 100% creative control

and this dont make much of a difference but he made most of the shit while he was 18/19....
