PLEASE explain why you feel this way.

black & white. he ate a roach. he puked. his nose starts bleeding. his eyes go black. he hangs himself. the end.

what makes this the best video you have seen in a while?

Nah see its deep tho... him eating the roach symbolizes something so deep i cant even put it into words. And u see when his pupils dilated??? Thats real artistry man, then when i think he couldnt possibly be more artistic...the nigga hangs himself. U just mad becuz u dont understand it. Its over ur head man.

At least wit Wu-Tang their excuse was 5% talk.

Honestly that might be it. But their explanation of it was basically the manager wanted a video got it. That nigga tyler wanted it to show him eating a cockroach. That's it. I thought the video was Ill same with the song and the beat. Yeah it's shock value.. Think of them as the trolls of rap. They do things to piss you off and shit. They rep anarchy and I dint give a fuckness to kids. That's it. If my first full listen of Tyler was goblin... I'd hate that shit probably lol

So what else should I listen to? I dont wanna write these niggas off without giving a fair listen. But It seems to be just for Shock Value(which i think is kiinda played out in hiphop at this point). I didnt like it when EM did that shit either. Show me u can spit first, then shock me.

As long as they don't garner any Wu-Tang comparisons i'm cool with they're movement, Yonkers by Tyler the Creator is my jam

Too late, quest love already did it. and on a small scale it kinda makes sense. A large group of MC's who rap as a group but also do solo albums, so theres that. But im not comparing the talent level

Man try giving the album Bastard at least one listen first... You might fuck with it you might not. You can dl that shit for free at oddfuture.com. Start with that before goblin

And if you want more normal rap try youtubing mellowhype and see if you fuck with it

ill give that a try b/c i just listend to the 1st few tracks of goblin on my ipod and it's not working. beats ok but his flow is just boring as hell. so boring that it's more sleeping than shocking. hodgy beats dudes sounds like he has more energy in his flow and sounds more listenable than tyler. tyler flow just sounds like a bootleg k rino

everything isn't for everybody

After keep seeing Thread after thread and co-sign after co-sign on here i finally decided to give them a listen.

Them niggas is bullshit!!!

Maybe its the dumbass voice or goofy ass rhyme style that i cant get wit.

The I.C. always love different artist until they blow then they turn on them e.g. Wiz Khalifa.

i cant explain it, visually, it just appeals to me.

i guess, if i really thought about it, i enjoyed how things got weirder and weirder til he killed himself.

from the beginning of the video, things just kept happening enough to make me wanna keep watching. like i knew it wouldnt just end with him not rapping, but i didnt expect for him to hang himself.

Let's be honest. Earl's the best out of that camp. Nothing special about anyone else.

Tyler seems to be OD'ing on the fame. He does come off as an attention whore now.

Even Hodgy is acting out of character.

Guess fame is really like a drug.

As for me I'm just waiting to see what and if Earl drops anything new when he gets back to the main land

Goblin's a great album to me, great production, he's actually telling a story when you get past the shock content. I admit it does get boring at times but I mean what do you expect from a 19 year old at least he's genuine in regards to being himself and having fun with his friends, making music for them and not for everyone else.

The bolded is a contradiction.

A great album should never "get boring"

this thread aint about odd future.

its about tyler.

and his album.

It turned into an Odd Future thread though.

Tyler and Earl are the psycho, weird, shock value dudes. Them and only them. I don't even like Tyler the Creator for anything other than his production. Earl can spit, but he say some weird ass shit...

The rest of Odd Future don't do the shock value....

The tragic irony is that Nas was the same age as Tyler when he recorded Illmatic.

So if you are asking if we still expect quality music from recording artists, the answer is yes.

im the same way. i gave it a chance once i saw the performance on the late show. i thought the performance was crazy and intense as fuck. once i dug deeper and saw what they were about, i was like "ok...i cant listen to this for long periods of time...they aint saying shit".

^^^^^^Same. I saw their MTV Woody Awards performance, and thought they were pretty hardcore. But the more youtube videos and music I heard from all of them, they just come off as a bunch of really angry kids who lucked up and got a deal. I thoguth tyler the creator had potential, but he's a rebel without a cause, people will get tired of them quick.

C/S, Nas was 18/19 when "Halftime" came out, and 20 when Illmatic dropped, reference his song Life's a Bitch. And Ice Cube was 21 when Amerikkka's Most Wanted dropped

THATS what it is!

I knew he gave off a phony vibe to me but i couldnt put my finger on why....

Dude is rebelling against ... nothing ... there's really no message behind his "screw society" facade.
