No it don't but the general public's opinion doesnt necessarily always reflect what a good movie is either. Like someone said cause Vanilla Ice selling a million records that doesnt mean he's the best rapper

he sold like 10 million

TP aint funny? I beg to differ. The MAdea One big Happy Family stage play had me literally laughing til I cried and sides splitting, chest hurting, stomach tightening, choking and shit.

most of the plays do

oh yeah?... I cant front... I giggled once or twice at House of Payne.. I think Curtis is kind of funny. I cant help what I laugh at

problem is that Madea is just over kill... How Many Madea movies does one need?

Its like M Knight Schyamalan movies... The Sixth Sense with the twist at the end.. brilliant.. Unbreakable... that was dope cool twist imo.. Signs.. ehh..ok another twist? The Village.. enough!... do something else.. something without a stupid twist.

See Spike has such a diverse creative catalogue if theres anybodies criticism you should tconsider... it should be his

his movies are like black fairytales. there is always a prince charming, a villain, and a damsel in distress. they do not bash men. for every bad one theire is a good one

Whenever a black celeb makes it to a certain level, people expect that dude to be the ambassador for niggas. Like he suppose to be everything to everybody in the black community. Its unfair. Let Tyler have his lane. There are plenty of white directors who are one dimensional but, nobody gives a fuck because there's 1,000 directors to balance it out.

To understand what Im saying...imagine if Martin Scorsese was the only white director, imagine if Michael Bay was the one white director, imagine if Christoper Nolan was the only director. After 5 years, white folk would get tired of seeing Mafia films, Huge pointless action films & Sci-Fi films with mind clusterfucks as endings. Like seriously...imagine white folk forcing Scorsese to do more Comedy & Family films.

If there were more black directors to balance the content, people wouldn't be as mad at Perry. But since there aint, muthafuckas mad he not risking his niche, his brand and what works for him to branch out & be James Cameron, David Fincher, Judd Apatow & Sam Raimi rolled in one big Supernigga custome

c/s this right here. Personally I don't care for Tyler Perry films for the reasons mentioned. However, imo the Spike Lee vs. Tyler Perry situation is no different than the Common vs. Gucci Mane argument. Artists such as Gucci & Waka Flocka produce music that many of us think is negative, stereotypical coonery. These artists are popular to today's young crowd and hence receive more visibility than artist that many of us consider to be more talented, yet less "in". Because of their popularity, the Guccis, Wakas, Soulja Boys, etc are on a platform where their brand of music is pushed to the point that it becomes "the face" of black men and women. The average idiot will look at them and assume that all blacks are what these artists portray us to be. Artists who produce more concious/positive music are not receiving the same media attention or visibility which creates a similar imbalance. Look on any news site, especially TMZ, when some rapper such as Gucci gets locked up for some ignorant shit. 90% of the posts will have something negative to say about rap music because all these people know is what we show them. I understand where Spike is coming from ( although hypocritical as it might be ), because Tyler is indeed very popular. His popularity, visibility and power to influence is what makes his brand of imagery offensive to some people. The images that he portrays have the power to break, or in his case, reinforce stereotypes. Ultimately is all comes down to how we are being represented to the masses. We are not one dimensional people, so we shouldn't continuously be shown as such. Tyler can do his thing, but there needs to be other writers & producers who can switch things up a bit.

lol So you focus on the negative and ignore the positive? What you initially said is that he never makes a movie with a positive character that doesn't reinforce negative stereotypes, so when proven wrong you want to ignore the positive character and focus on the negative one?

Every movie has negative characters, it's nearly impossible to make a movie without having someone play the role of the villain.

I said there is ALWAYS a negative aspect...always...And thats what people always remember if you ever listen to someone talk about a TP movie...

So where did anyone get the idea of dressing in drag to begin?????

THEY SAW SOMEONE ELSE DO IT...correct?

If you are that dense to think a black child that maybe confused about his/her sexuality doesnt get ideas from this, you arent living in reality and you sound like 20 fools.

Now NOBODY is influenced by what they see on TV???

C'mon son...you make me lose brain cells everytime you post. Should he have that influence? NO....should people follow what others do? NO...but to act like it doesnt happen is pure stupidity

maybe a new age of consciousness will arise from this tyranny that has span over 20 + years

oprah has her own network no she still reigning. this is the new consciousness. anything else would be going backwards. but I think that is what y'all dudes afraid of. forward movement.
