Dude has made enough money where he couldn't hire real directors and script writers at this point.

Will Smith > Tyler Perry if people have been studying what WIll has been doing, i wouldn't be surprised if he has his own studio one day.

I'd much prefer Will Smith to Tyler Perry....doesn't Will own some kind of studio now or is just a vanity, putting his name on movies kind of thing. Does he greenlight & finance films?

Word he shouldn't, and he should have a right to respond to his critics however he sees fit. So that faggot telling Spike Lee to go straight to hell should be totally acceptable. I commend Perry for telling that nigga where to go cause Spike ain't doing nothing but hating.

He got a right to respond...gay or not. Didnt say anything about what he doesnt have a right to do

Lets be honest... Tyler Perry is just not Funny... enough

Hes not funny like the Klumps(the first one)... Like Sha Nay Nay... Like Wanda... Madea is just not funny enough.

Secondly.. Tyler Perry is redundant ...

Spike takes risk.. He takes time to really put detail into scenery... The moving still is all spike.. The colors and the way in which a character is introduced is film artistry. Spike takes his craft seriously.. Im sure he expects more out of someone who is banking heavily.

Perry doesnt take chances.. he stays in his lane and caters to his base

I agree with everything above

I just don't know why people feel the need to nail him to the cross just because he chooses to stick with one thing

most of the plays do

Because you keep missing my point....no one on this thread seems to understand.

The rest of the country goes to:

Wes Craven, Sam Raimi - Horror

Judd Apatow - Crude comedy, Coming of Age comedy

James Cameron - Summer Blockbusters, Action

David Fincher - Nimble, thought provoking films

Michael Bay - See shit blow up

Blacks go to:

Tyler Perry - Everything nigga

See the difference. Yall expecting Perry to do shit yall wouldn't expect white directors to do. Nobody going to Will Ferrell's movie expecting to see "Inception" or "The King's Speech" but, because Perry the only black director doing it on a big level.....yall expect the nigga to be everything.

I need to put this on one of these social networking sites. At this point, still speaking about TP is beating a dead horse.

Spike Lee is a loud mouth. We all know this. Clint Eastwood knows this. Spike>>>>>Tyler. Duh. No debate on that. Why can't TP write what he wants? I still want to know why is it that only black folks look to one person to be the savior to an entire "community". How do they come about picking this one person?

tp movies will not change anyones perception of anything. he is not implanting any subliminal ideas into impressionable people. his movies wont make you violent, wont make you hate black men or women or cross dressing men.

his movies cater to people who already has a specific need.

that's like saying watching all the fast and furious movies would make a cautious driver all of a sudden a speed demon. the movie caters to already speed demons

that a little different FF5 is a fictonal action flick which is a vast over exaggerration

of street racing sub-culture. any person with common since will know not to copy what they do.

tyler perry movie deals with real relationships and issues, and he reinforces already

pervasive race/gender dynamics, that I feel reinforces negativity and coounter productivity.

What need is that? To see blacks act trifling? This is not being responsible just because profit is involved..... So he can reinforce black sterotypes but cant show them in a positive light?

And their have been plenty off movies showing horrific car crashes that might make a nigga buckle up...People are sheep that have used alot of media to influence certain lifestyles....

You still comparing him to white directors.....Im talking about THE MOST SUCCESSFUL black director. Not what anyone else is doing. Notice how you said "everything nigga" not just a genre of movie....

And why would i expect a white director to bring the same as a black dude from louisiana? Do they dress up as women? And that niggas real name is Emmitt for gods sake..

Okay then....the Most SUCCESSFUL white director is James Cameron. Most of his films have been action & big budget blockbusters. The only film not like that was Titantic. Why can't James Cameron do a family movie? Why can't James Cameron venture into gore/horror films? Why hasn't he done any slasher films? Why can't he do any politically centered films, ala Lions for Lambs? Why is it always glossy, flashy, grotesquely financed action movies?

Same shit.

Come one man....I took my girl to that....that shit was 2 hours of singing old school songs with 20 mins of acting with 5 mins of him giving a lecture....

Cause Cameron for the most part making good movies. Perry isnt. Fuck it if he white or black...
Perry not very good at his niche, besides being repetitive. Cameron is. Big difference

And if people are so concerned about negative stereotypes

Then you make a movie

But let Tyler make his money and go home

And I'm glad he called out spike lee for talking shit, right now he's more gangsta than most these mofos favorite rapper

Because he is rich because of black folks, and we havent had alot of powerful figures in this lifetime, so why shouldnt we expect them to be responsible with this power. No, he doesnt have to give a shit if he shows blacks acting like idiots, but i bet white folks sit back and say "we been telling ya'll for the longest this is how niggas act, not one of them is re-affirming how we felt all these years"

Are you trying to say that there aren't any positive characters in Tyler Perry movies? What about that one movie where the black man was a responsible father taking care of his daughters when the mother was out being a junkie or whoring or whatever she was doing? Was that not a positive role involving a black man that didn't reinforce the stereotype that "All black males are deadbeat daddies"?

Notice there was still something negative in this? There always is a negative...always......

TP movies are fictional too with exaggerations as well. it;s the exaggerations that you people are complaining about. you take them all with a grain if salt. what applies apllies, what doesnt... doesnt.

People keep going to see his movies so someone must be thinking he's good at making movies, because you don't doesn't make your opinion a fact.

No it don't but the general public's opinion doesnt necessarily always reflect what a good movie is either. Like someone said cause Vanilla Ice selling a million records that doesnt mean he's the best rapper
