Tyler Perry Entrepreuner or Just Another Coon???

Man are black folks so desperate for success that we will co-sign ANYTHING?

Look when TP was just getting on, his plays were circulated around our church going black women everywhere. They didn't look at the big picture, it was just good wholesome, morally clean humor.

Then the dude gets co-signed by Oprah and he's everywhere. White folks want to help him make movies now. He blows alllllll the way up and now he's rich.

But wait...rich from doing what?

He's cross-dressing, portraying the stereotypical overly religious, obese black woman. He hires other black men to play the stereotypical "angry black man" who verbally, physically, emotionally abuses the damsel in distress black woman and wraps it all up in a nice Christian bow and niggas eat it up.

As a black male I can't support TP's flicks at all. Black males for decades have been portrayed in the light we see TP portraying us in. From "The Color Purple" where Mista slapped up and raped poor ole' Celie to "What's Love Got To Do With It" where Ike Turner repeatedly beat the shit out of Tina physically and verbally attacks her in just about every scene after their wedding to this nonsense TP makes now.

Let's not forget such classics as "Waitin To Exhale" while we are on the subject.

They are all the same: the pure innocent black woman who just wants to be a good christian wife has to deal with this overbearing, insensitive, easily angered, super macho, sexist husband/boyfriend/lover whatever.

TP makes an ass out of Black people in general but especially black males.

What's it going to take, for the nigga to name a movie "Madea eats watermelon" for cats to see it for what it is?

Now let me be clear: I understand he was broke as fuck and probably put the dress on to save money on casting but dude is rich now, he could be uplifting black people at this point but instead he continues to slap us across the face with this stereotypical nonsense.

If a white man had made all these "Medea" movies, niggas would be HEATED. I'm talking hot under the collar but because he's black too its okay? Because he's rich that makes it right?

Man niggas are sellouts and ho's. If this nigga's movies were in anyway uplifting he never would have been so successful in the first place. Sure he's helping a few black actors & actresses get jobs but for the few hundred he hires, he embarrasses millions...digest that.

Its a shame anyone should degrade themselves for work and yet blacks do it willingly and nigga's co-sign and dance right along.

He's in a position of power and yet he's still a puppet on a string...but niggas still don't get it and they won't get it because like birds they are attracted to shiny objects and if you flash enough coins they will sell you out and wonder why nobody respects them.

He cried like a bitch when Aaron McGruder and The Boondocks lampooned him a few years back, even tried to get him kicked off the air (some "brother" huh? He can make fun of black people all day but don't you dare make fun of him) but they wouldn't have done that if he had any respect.

Robin Williams was the original Madea, nobody tripped of that shit........

robin williams made 1 ms. doutfire movie. dustin hoffman made 1 tootsie movie. hell even wesley snipes black ass only made 1 too wung fu movie. tyler perry has made at least 5 madea movies in 7 fucking years. that doesnt include the stage plays and madea spinoffs.

even if you are a fan of this shit at what point do you get tired of seeing the same bullshit storyline and hearing the same goofy ass jokes over and over again. its like the friday the 13th movies. they made 12 of those fucking movies. the first few were good but by the 4th or 5th movie they ran out of ideas and the shit just got ridiculous. what about those ernest movies. ernest goes to jail, ernest goes to school. hell they even had one called ernest goes to africa. how many times can you tell the same fucking story before you run out of interesting ways to tell it? i get it tyler perry is a big black guy dressed up like a woman. i get it but got damn how many times is he gonna keep putting the same bullshit out? even the most mindless person has to get tired of that bullshit at some point.

blah blah blah

you sound like a bitch cuz

you just wrote a ECR on why you dont like that man

A Black man comes from nothing to become a millionaire and other blacks try to tear him down for not doing things their way

yall seem like the coons to me

Funny shit is...people hate and blame Tyler for what he puts out instead of the audience that supports it. W/o the support, he would have faded into obscurity a long time ago. Simple supply and demand. So if Tyler is a coon....what does that make the millions who continue to go see his plays & movies?

Typical Tyler Perry plot.....dark black man mistreats black woman until light skinned negro comes through and saves the day

And then he did one better in one of his movies when the yellow nigga was the bad guy and then a gawd damned messican played knight in shining armor

I heavily cosign the bolded

the limited story writing and stereotypes are ridiculous

as a black person I don't see how you can cosign the shit now

at least if there was some progression in his work then maybe he could get credit for trying to pioneer some shit

I dislike Tyler Perry's work as much as the next man, but I really wish they could implement a way for keyboards to shock people everytime they type the word coon. I'm so tired of seeing people abuse and misuse that word.

I thought I was the only one who noticed Tyler Perry copied Ernest lol

@allparish12

Precious was a fuckin pathetic movie for a number of reasons. That movie made a mockery of Black ppl and was filled with every possible negative stereotype about Blacks. She was illiterate, HIV positive, obese, a teen mom, poor, and had a fat loud mouthed mother who sat on her ass all day. And if that's not dramatic enough she's sexually and physically abused by her mom and has babies by her father. It's like they said "ok let's make every possible fucked up scenario happen to this black girl cuz the public loves to see the black struggle. It wasn't "touching", it made me roll my eyes at the cliche storyline and the sorry ass attempts to evoke emotions outta me.

There's only a handful of Black films released a year. And the most talked about film highlighted the worse of the worst of Blacks. Just because a character in a movie was raped/molested doesn't make it a good film. It was poorly directed also, it had a terrible ending.
