$$ def was necessary cause you had to hit a real studio and pay a real engineer ...IF YOU wanted to sound good ... which is prob why the circle was so small back then ... and its so big now with cats being able to record and produce from a pc and then distributiing thru the internet ....

Ye and Dre are my 2 favorite producers. Dre's ear/eye for talent is impeccable....as well as his track record as a producer, but it has always been widely stated that he wasn't the mastermind behind actually creating all of those classic beats. That's not to say that he can't create dope shit on his own, but it isn't far fetched to believe he had ghost producers too. I remember reading an old old old ass article w/ Scott Storch before anybody even knew who dude was. He stated that he was producing for Dre behind the scenes. I also heard the same thing from Hi-Tek. Others who allegedly ghost produced for Dre are Daz, DJ Quik & Mellman......maybe others too. I don't believe Dre is out here Quincy Jones'ing or Diddy'ing, but let's not act like it is impossible that he was slapping his name on beats that were actually produced by others.

Anyway....I prefer Ye's production over Dre's. It's just more soulful to me. #preference
