I think a large part of what bothers me is that there is a dishonest effort in trying to make Zimmerman the victim

Good article. Glad someone else acknowledged that young black men had been committin robberies in the community. And that they explained some more of his phone calls. It was dumb that people used his excessive phone calls to portray him as a vigilante when it's the COMPLETE opposite.

I mean, obviously he's a dude who wants to be some sort of hero, and at times seems to act erratically.

Think it looks like a vigilante in hindsight because of him and Trayvon. But in reality people call the police all the time and trail the person they called them on. Old ass ladies do it. They aren't trying to be cops, they just don't want them to get away before cops show up.

I've never seen/heard of an old lady doing it. This is way besides the point, that by doing this you make the person you are following nervous, and it's not your job to do such things.

I agree he went beyond what was called for. But doing this and calling the police a lot doesn't make him a vigilante, and he was portrayed as one.

well i think you and I have a different idea of what a vigilante is...

If he kept tryin to detain the person on his own I'd call him a vigilante. But just keeping eyes on the person until the police show up isn't a vigilante.

How come so many of you ignore the facts - Zimmerman did back-off and the aggressor was the young man. & the majority of the perpetrators were young black youth.

FYI if the various media sources would be more truthful about what's REALLY going on,MAYBE there wouldn't be this deception about black people in general. I just don't understand how identifying the suspects ethnicity isn't necessary in solving said crimes - you want fair and balanced treatment but you don't want the truth to be told - e.g., if said white man robbed you or said black man did the same then tell it like it is & quit playing this game about stating the real facts.

Finally, NOW to bolded area above - are you actually telling me and believing that white people CANNOT be victims/victimized by black predators...& some black thugs will prey on white people in this country....BULL SHIT AND BULL SHIT again. i'm arguing that the crime you're referencing had very little to do with them being white. black people are getting robbed and murdered by the same people. it's a minority -- a very small one -- that has allowed whites to frame all blacks as "thugs." the whites just stand out, obviously, since they're a white victim in a predominantly "black" area.

it's those damned statistics. if people would rationally and critically examine them, they'd see that blacks are not causing this "epidemic" of crime that some people would accuse them of doing. relative to the the population, a fraction of the community is involved in the crime you speak of. adding to that, there is no real evidence that whites are targeted at a higher rate. looking at the two groups and their relative sizes, it stands to reason that black on white crime would elicit the most attention -- which leads to a skewed world view that sees people like ME and other black men labeled suspects when he haven't done anything.

there is no empirical evidence to justify the fear whites have of blacks.

...the thing I cant understand is Tupac's bail was set at $1.4 million for being convicted of sex abuse....Zimmerman's bail was only $150,000 and he is being charged with murder...WTF???...
