On Feb. 26, Zimmerman, 28, a self-appointed block watch captain in The Retreat at Twin Lakes, a gated community in Sanford, just outside Orlando, called 911 from his car to report a suspicious person – a black man wearing a hoodie – walking slowly through the neighborhood. The 911 operator, according to police, told Zimmerman to wait for police to arrive. The man in the hoodie was Trayvon, returning to his family's house from buying Skittles and an iced tea at a local convenience store.

oh i guess 17 isn't a kid anymore when it's a black kid. now he's a grown-ass man.

I hope so but I doubt it. When shit like this happens the racists with money come out and setup funds for the perps defense. They get the best lawyers money can buy with court connects. Just like with Oscar Grant and Johannes Mehserle. Mehserle got bank rolled and got off with 2 years with eligibility to get out in 7 months. Non-black jury.

And this is bullshit even if race WASN'T a factor and this occurred between 2 non-black people, you can't pursue someone, confront them, then turn around and say you had to kill that UNARMED person with your weapon in self defense. I'd like to see an instance or example of a Stand Your Ground court case ruling in the case of black on black crime.

Remember the constitution was written in 1787, but slavery didn't end until 1865. We ain't even get the right to vote (express a symbolism of power) without prejudice and bullshit until the voting act of 1965 was signed...think on that.

the saddest part is that if they listened to the complaints of the residents he harassed in the past then this could have been avoided. why did the police never acknowledge that there were previous complaints from other residents anyway? it really does look like an extreme cover-up.

why do you even need a neighborhood watch in a gated community? that's what the gate is for.

my homeboy actually killed someone in self-defense years ago...shot em (dude was high on an allday drug binge) and waited for the cops told them his story and spent the next year in prison till he was realesed when the toxicology report came back and his story checked out
