Lol at people saying this shit will teach him a lesson, how many of you got your ass beat as kids for doing some dumb shit in school then went and did the exact same shit the next day, the beatings is only temporary, i got a bunch of cousins whose Dad used to beat their asses everyday, they nice peoples but they still turned out to be drug dealers.

We got a pimp in this thread talking about, how this will teach him a lesson, you might be a nice person to some people but i guess you still didn't escape the allure of capitalism and the manipulation and morally bankrupt attitude that comes with it.

for those claiming that this will b ineffective, what do u suggest?
buying him some skinny jeans?

not subjecting him to, especially with the reach of the internet, worldwide ridicule for the rest of his life for a mistake he made as a child...

I only find this a problem if this is all Dad is going to do to rectify the problem.

Like if he is on his P's and Q's as a parent then addition to the punishment, he needs to be in communication with the school. Find out what the problem is. Is it a certain crowd he's hanging around in (and im sure it is)? A girl he's trying to impress? Does his behavior shift during a certain class or is it constant all day? Is there a correlation between the boys performance in a class and his behavior (some kids act out in classes they're not performing well in)?

Not to mention re-asses his own parenting. Is he spending enough time with the boy? Should he be studying more with him? Do they need to talk more? Are conditions at the boys grandmothers house (assuming thats who he lives with) adequate enough?

....Because a lotta of Black People seem to only focus on one part of the equation (the punishment) instead of instilling values/skills and solving issues in a constructive, logical manner.

Niggas will spend an hour punishing their kids, but won't spend that hour actually sitting down and studying with them.

so you're suggestion is to do nothing...?
okee dokee...
lol@the blacks incarceration rates rising as less kids get their asses beat...

Because the incarceration rate has been amazing while kids been getting their asses beat...and I never said do nothing...the punishment should fit the offense...and I seriously doubt there's anything a child that young can do that would result in their own parent putting a video up of them being whooped...I don't even have that much of an issue with what the dad did, but putting it online? For what? serves what point? To further humiliate that child? To boost the parent's ego?

And did you actually watch the video? Listen to what the dad was saying "Grandma does this, grandma got you that..."....maybe if Grandma wasn't the primary parent and Dad was there actually parenting he wouldn't have to resort to something like this to discipline him to begin with.....the parent has to check themselves just like they expect the kid too...

lol @ an ass whooping being the primary solution to blk male incarceration rates ... LOL

I wish it was that simple.

anyways... sounds like to me..(based on the vid) all the little kid does is act out in school... and go to his pops house to play video games.

I dont know if videos games is a good deterrent. I would rather have em in some sort of extra curricular after school activity of some sort.

Among other things.. there needs to be more parental involvement on all levels and def way more communication with the school teachers like Knives said. Im not a fan of consistent epic beat downs.

but then again.. I take child rearing way to seriously ... probably why I dont want to have any

While I appreciate the way he came to his son and how he sat him down and was actually taking the time to speak to him thoroughly and although I personally wouldn't cut my sons hair as punishment for very valid reasons, my issue with this video is that there was even one made for us and a million others to view and discuss. Keep your business within the home. As great as the opening saying is, that's not really how Western society works.

As for his parenting goes, his approach, and depending on the child, it can either set him straight or severely damage him. To say there is a definite guarantee is ridiculous. And it is also very dependent on the relationship established between the parent and child. Some children are obedient and don't need more than a verbal warning to reevaluate their actions and act accordingly. Some kids won't react to physical punishment and need toys and games taken away from them while others need nothing more than communication.

My friend (mind you she is in her 40's) has 4 kids. Because she never used beatings as punishment, the first time she did was the last. From then on the kids knew what it was.
